to be honest who wants to look Half alive and Half Plastic? i would never get cosmetic surgery (unless something happens to me, like a terrible accident and my face gets screwed up then yes) but just to look younger, no. when i die i dont want my corpse to look new and like i never did anything in my life, i want my corpse to look used, i want it to say "WHOA! WHAT A LIFE! I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT AND MAN DO I LOOK OLD NOW!" i want everyone to see tht i didnt need surgery to make me happy :)

Necessary in some extreme cases. But hey, if someone's got the money and they want to, they can have a shot at it. I don't personally think it makes anyone look younger or prettier, they just look like they were getting on in years and then had their face done, all shiny and stretched. I wouldn't get it done except in extreme cases, like the responder above me said. (:

This depends on a predictament.

( Ex: Person experienced a car accident while recieving scures on his/ her face.. Cosmetic appeals then would be considered reasonable )

... Not much of a fan of this towards 'trying' to improve facial impressions.. Pretty silly although I respect others views.

People are too insecure.

When I was younger ('til now, actually), my dad always said when he has the money, he'll give me a nose job. I'm feeling a bit... miserable about the fact that he can't just accept me the way I am. But that's how life goes.

BlackStar, a similar thing happened to me:
When I got my braces removed, I showed my mum my new teeth. She said, "so they've fixed your teeth, now if only they could fix your nose." I was sooo shocked! Our parents are supposed to support and accept us, not make us feel insecure.

It depends on the circumstances.
If it involves someone's health, then I think it's fine. (examples: getting a nose job because they have a nasal obstruction that makes it hard to breathe, having a reconstructive surgery because of a severe accident that disfigured their face, or getting a breast reduction because it's putting too much strain on their back)

However, if someone does it because they are insecure about how they look, I don't really respect that. In my opinion, those little "imperfections" are the things that make us all unique and beautiful.

It's absolutely the most vain thing a person can do. I think cosmetic enhancements in general are stupid, but to spend that much money on plastic body parts? Who cares if your nose is big or your breasts are small? Maybe spend that money on something worthwhile, like learning a new skill. There's no reason to waste money on your appearance. It's not nearly as precious as your mind.

i think there really is no point. ppl should like you for who you are, not what you look like. unless you actually have a severe problem that doesn't allow you to blend in with society... but i've always said i wanna get a nose job cuz my nose is huge... XP
