What We Once Were

Once, I thought I had it all.
It was during our wedding. Julia and I had been together for almost three years. I had leaned in for the kiss. Suddenly, I felt her body go limp. She dropped out of my arms with a thud. My heart started pounding so hard, I was afraid that others would hear it. I knew I would be blamed for this. What went wrong?
I started running. I grew tired, but I knew I couldn't stop. I heard quick footsteps behind me. I hid behind a stack of boxes in an alley. I hear voices. They are coming closer. They are in front of the boxes but I still dare not show myself. They walk away.
"My beautiful daughter!" one of them cries. I know I cannot hide myself any longer. I step up.
"I didn't kill her." I say. It doesn't look like they believe me. One of them pulls out a gun. I hear the shot being fired and everything went black...
