She ran down one of the gravel road that ran through the trailer park. Finally she ran out of steam and slowed to a fast walk. She was so mad she almost growled. She was so sick of getting in fights with her uncle. He was such a hypocrite, and she hated hypocrites. He was lecturing her about how she shouldn't be staying out so late at night while he was standing their slurring his words. Eventually she had given up on him and left, grabbing her skates but forgetting her jacket.
"BRITTNEY!" her uncle screamed, yanking open the metal door. Brittney sighed and turned around to look towards her uncles. She panicked when she saw him walking down the steps. She turned, gathered her breath, and took off running towards the trailer park entrance. Suddenly she saw a boy on skates speed through the gate. She yelled but couldn't stop herself from crashing into him. She cussed as she toppled him over, landing on top of him with her arms on either side of his shoulders.
"What the hell?" the boy asked angrily. "Why don't you watch where you're going?"
"Hey I'm sorry, it was never my intention to run you over." She replied, instantly defensive.
"Ehh I'm fine." He responded still sounding extremely annoyed. Brittany stood up and held out her hand, knowing how hard it was to stand up while wearing skates. Especially the in-line skates the boy was wearing. He grabbed her hand and pulled himself up off the ground.
"I really am sorry though, I’m Brittany." She said, picking up her black skates.
"I'm Barrett." He smirked slightly. Brittany nodded and took a closer look at him. She had to admit he was extremely sexy. He had long, luxurious red hair that fell past his shoulders and dark brown eyes. He looked athletic and tough. Kind of bad boy like she usually went for.
"So what are you doing around here?" She questioned.
"I just came over here to ask my friend something," he smirked "what are you doing here?"
"I live here now, I just moved in with my uncle because my mom was arrested."She said rolling her eyes.
"What did she do?" He asked. Brittney laughed at how interested he seemed.
"It was DUI and domestic violence." She said, pulling her hair up into a quick ponytail and flipping it so the ends seemed frayed.
"I see."He replied, still smirking. He glanced at the hand holding her skates "Are you good?"
She looked at her skates. "Yeah I'm pretty good. My friend Alex got me started when I was like eight."She bent down to put them on.
"Are you doing anything today?" He asked suddenly. She straightened up and stared at him. She smiled slightly.
"Nah, not really" she responded. She slid her skates back and forth absentmindedly. She watched his face and smiled when she realized he was checking her out.
"Do you want to chill with us?" he asked, smiling.
"Yeah, sure" She replied smiling back at him. "So where does he live?"
"Down that way."He pointed back the way she had come.
"What number is it?"She asked, tilting her head slightly.
"417, why?" He replied with a curious look on his face. Brittany turned slowly and took off in the direction of trailer 417. She picked up speed with every movement of her feet. She went to trailers past hers, making sure to flip off her uncle as she moved, and stopped in front of 417. She turned in an arc and screamed when she realized Barrett was right behind her. She burst out laughing and after a few minutes he did too. By the time she stopped laughing her eyes were watering and her stomach hurt. Brittany gestured towards the trailer door. Barrett cracked a real smile for the first time and knocked on the door.
"Usually I just go in, but since you're here I figure he would be freaked if he woke up to a random chick in his room." They heard footsteps and a few minutes later another boy opened the door to the trailer. The boy had dark chin length curly hair and brown eyes.
"Hey Barrett"the boy smiled. Brittany thought he sounded like he had just woken up.
"Hey Kitao,"Barrett smirked "this is Brittany, she just moved here." Brittany smiled and waved.
