Chapter 1

.... (:

Today, i heard a story about a girl named Georgia. She suffers from cerebral palsy. It's a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement, and motor skills. It also affects vision, hearing, speech, and learning abilities. It's a disorder that develops before or during a child's birth so even before she was born, her and her family were told she wasn't going to make it. Her family was told that she would never be able to walk or talk, and that she wouldn't live past 5 years old.

Georgia celebrated her 12th brithday last september.

She walks perfectly, and her speech is getting better everyday. Against all odds, she has overcome this disease and can finally get to live a regular life. I don't know what it was that made this story stick with me. I think it was the hope that i got when i heard it. The hope that you don't usually see on a daily basis, so when you do hear about something like this, it sticks with you. Makes you realize how lucky you are and how worse things could be. How someone so young could overcome something so big. Well, what i'm trying to say here is that things like this hapen everyday. Be happy they don't happen to you. Appreciate your life for what it is and accept things that you can't change. Thank you Georgia, for giving me hope that there is good left in the world and showing me that " it's too hard. " is a bad excuse for giving up.
