The Amazingly Long Twilight Fanfiction
I spent so long writing this, I sincerely hope you like it.
Chapter 1
Bella's POV
It’s a cloudy morning, so I decide to take Renesmee for a walk. As we leave, I notice Alice looking a little worried. Why? I’ll ask when we get back, I guess. Nessie laughs with joy when she sees the park, and reaches her little hand up to touch my face. She wants to play. I smile and tell her, “Okay!” We have a lot of fun on the assorted playground equipment. Somehow, it reminds me of the happy times spent with my own mother. Before this can make me sad, I notice Nessie on a swing, shrieking in delight as she rises and falls. I’m so absorbed in watching her play that at first, I don’t realise I’m being watched. When I finally notice, it’s the scent I catch first. I brace myself for the human scent that scorches my throat, but it’s nothing like that. It’s a vampire scent, although not one I recognise. I turn around in an instantaneous movement to face the newcomer, instinctively poised to protect Nessie. But I relax when I see the vampire, and see that she doesn’t look dangerous at all. She’s a little black-haired girl with Mexican features and black eyes. She stares right at me, not even glancing at Nessie. It’s me she’s interested in, for whatever reason. “Excuse me,” she asks with a distinct Mexican accent. “I’m looking for someone. Could you please help me?” I wonder who she could be looking for, and who she is in the first place. “Who are you?” I ask, hoping to get one question answered at least. She smiles a little. “They call me Maria,” she tells me in a soft voice. Maria! Somewhere from my vague human memories, a blurred picture surfaces. Maria… she was the vampire that transformed Jasper. She was the vampire that won all of those battles with newborn armies. She was the vampire Jasper ran away from, but he had never mentioned the possibility of her looking for him. “You’re looking for Jasper, aren’t you?” At first, I’m not even aware I’m saying this out loud. But then Maria nods, and takes a deep breath in. “I’d recognise his scent anywhere,” she mutters, more to herself than anyone else. “I can smell it now. I just have to follow it… I’m so close!” This is terrible! I can’t allow this! Before Maria can react, I scoop up Nessie and race back home.
