Wiccans--The Truth

This is a repost. Speaking as one who once had a bias against Wicca, this is very powerful, and you truly do need to open the right books and check the right websites before you say anything for or against anything, especially a religion.
This one's for all the ignorant people out there. Where do you get off persecuting people for nothing more than harboring beliefs contrary to your own? I am a Wiccan, and I can't even wear the symbol representing my Goddess without being labled as a satan worshiper, a crazy witch, or some other nonsense. Let's get one thing straight here: WICCANS DON'T WORSHIP SATAN! WE DONT EVEN BELIEVE IN SATAN. The devil is a knock off of christianity and catholicism and it's unfair to have those beliefs shoved into my religion. We believe that evil is made worse when you slap a name on it. We also believe that you should harm none, thats the first rule of Wicca. Furthermore, let's explore the PENTAGRAM shall we? When there is one point at the top, that represents Wicca. If there are two points at the top, it reprisents satanism. NOT THE SAME THING. Open a f(&$#@* book every now and again. You might learn something. 3rd, we don't have anything against christians! Just because we don't believe the same thing as you, doesn't automatically mean we are enemies! I'm so tired of other religions making claims that they are sooo persecuted, and then turn around and persecute Wiccans! hypocrisy much? I can't see why people are so unaccepting of our religion. Just like everyone else, there are good Wiccans and there are some Wiccans that are complete a&^ holes. We are people just like everyone else.
My bit:
I haven't worn a Wiccan symbol yet, or identified as Wiccan to anyone but a friend of mine. This is something I'm still "in the Broom Closet" about with members of my family and friends. I'm so new to this, I have yet to have found myself a Book of Shadows!!
But I know this is the path for me. The Gods have guided me to it. The Goddess has finally brought me to Her side. This is a beautiful religion, one I used to despise because of the people I had met.
As Deborah Blake says in her book "The Goddess is in the Details: Wisdom for the Everyday Witch," when you identify as a Wiccan (or a Pagan), you are now the representation of the ENTIRE faith. You are now our link to the outside world, our emissary. Whatever you say next, whatever you are doing, and associating with will be slapped onto the rest of us who follow that religion, whether it is something we all do and say or not. When you act as Wiccans have acted towards me, you hate Wicca. You hate Wiccans (though I did not, merely strongly disliked). And that was when I was a fellow Pagan, just talking to them. I cannot imagine how they were toward people of a monotheistic faith!!
PLEASE be a fabulous, nonconfrontational, believer especially around others! I hope you are that all the time, but if you aren't, pretend when you're around others! I do not want someone to associate me with your misdeeds in the name of Wicca, or under the name of Wiccan/Pagan! I want to be able to be a free practioner, a proper Everyday Witch, and I cannot do that if you mix up people's ideas of what is and what is not Wicca.
I passed the part of this 'story' on as a favour to Wiccans. I add my part as a favour to Wiccans. I hope that you will truly know what Wicca is--and what it is not--and you can at least agree to disagree. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. (:

Okay. You should do a lot of reading and researching, and you will continue to do that throughout your life if you are serious about being a Wiccan. I just read a book The Goddess is in the Details: Wisdom for the Everyday Witch by Deborah Blake, and it was absolutely fabulous in pointing me in the right directions for Wicca. You don't have to believe exactly what all most Wiccans believe--for instance I don't believe in reincarnation.
But really, you should do a lot of research into the things that Wiccans believe, what they do as common practice, how their common beliefs measure against yours. Take everything with a grain of salt, and really think about what they're saying. Don't just throw yourself in and accept everything that one book or person says about Wicca.
