Power of the Wolf

Shhhh. Lay low. Don't make a sound. Creep. Slowly. Don't let it hear you. Ready. Almost there. And. POUNCE! I landed on top of it and it struggled beneath me. My huge paws gasped its stomache and I sunk my dagger-like teeth deep into its juicy neck. Blood splurred out from the gash. It stopped squirming. I enclosed my jaw around the skin, grasping the hollow in its back, and dragged its limp, lifeless body back to my den. A lovely meal for my beautiful. Gracie howled as she caught sight of the Bison calf, catching Bianca and Lucas' attention. They all charged over, snatching the Bison out of my mouth. I watched their graceful movements as they ripped off large chunks, prancing around the body, and swallowing each peice with ease.
"Thanks Mum, You're the best" Gracie shouts between mouthfuls. Nat trotted out of the cave and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Evie, you're the most amazing Arctic Wolf I've ever seen." I giggle, playfully nudging him. The pups groaned in disgust then raced inside for a nap. By this point, the carcass was just a mere skeleton. Nat and I waited a couple of seconds before walking in after them. When we entered, Gracie was already half asleep. A smile escaped my lips at the sight of them huddling together. I snuggle up into their fur and shut my eyes. I feel Nat burrow his head into my neck. I smile again, eyes still closed.

I wake up to the shouts and shoves of Lucas and Bianca. Whereas Gracie is licking my face. I don't want to choose favourite but Gracie is kinder. Bianca is a little troublemaker and really close to her brother. I hope that will help her in the future. Bianca's also the prettiest. Lucas has mischeif written all over him. He's the ultimate daredevil but definatley someone my girls look up to.
"Okay, I'm up. What's the matter? Wheres your dad?" I say, through a yawn. Bianca tells me he's hunting. So I get up and try to calm them down, but to no avail. I groaned in stress, which immediatly silenced them. They hated it when I got annoyed at them and tried to avoid it at all times. "Thank you. Now Gracie. You tell me what you three want."
"Well, nothing really. We just would like you to play with us. Please." I love the way that Gracie is always so polite. I don't want to change anything about them but I sometimes wish them paid more attention to their manners. If they did they would grow into beautiful, mature wolves.I thanked Gracie.
"Okay. Gracie, Bianca, Lucas. Go hide. I'll count," They squealed in delight as they ran off. I turned round, closed my eyes and began a countdown from twenty. When I reached zero, I ran off in search for them. I found them all in record time as I have their scents. We played a few more times so everyone had a chance to seek. Half way through a game of it, Nat came back with five plump, juicy penguin chicks. He drops them and my babies grab them before they even touch the ground. My head shoots up as I hear a close-by growl. My family stop eating and the pups hide behind me and Nat. I follow the sound, ready to fight if I have to. I see someone and pounce. I pin the wolf down, growling. I was about to kill him but then realised it was my brother. I scrambled off his and immedialy apoligized.
"Oh my god Jase. I'm so sorry. You scared me. I didn't know what to do." I beg for forgiveness. He laughs. Jason tells me I'm silly and we race each other over to Nat and the kids.
