Find Your Way around Melbourne

We are going to use the photo of the central area of Melbourne (taken from the Eureka Tower) and Google Maps to follow instructions for this walk around the city. Your job is to answer questions along the way.

Don't forget to use the zoom in and out, the satellite view and the hand to move to different places on the map.

Good luck.

    1. We will start our walk on the bridge you see in the foreground. This bridge crosses which river?

  2. 2

    2. A large railway station can be found on your left as you walk into the city from the bridge. What is the name of this station?

  3. 3

    3. If we walk north into the city along St Kilda Rd from the bridge and keep walking straight ahead past St Pauls Cathedral and then the Melbourne Town Hall. Which street are you in?

  4. 4

You cross Collins St and turn left into Bourke St. What do you find here?

  5. 5

From Bourke St you walk to the Victorian Parliament in Spring St. In which direction will you be walking

  6. 6

You pass an area of extremely high office blocks (see the photo), these are mainly between which streets?

  7. 7

From Parliament you need to get to the Old melbourne Gaol which is in Russell St near Latrobe St. Which would be the quickest and easiest way there?

  8. 8

You are going to visit Etiad Stadium to see an AFL game. Which railway station is conveniently right next door?

  9. 9

To walk back from Etiad you will follow Bourke St from Spencer St back to the Mall. Which major streets do you cross on the way? See if you can remember the pattern in the names
