Matt love story - Death Note

One cold November morning at the Wammy's house Matt(red-haired boy with brown eyes), Mello(blonde-haired boy with blue eyes), and Near(white-haired boy with grey eyes) were hanging out in their room. Matt was playing on his psp while Mello watched eating some of his chocolate bar. Near was sitting by the window with one of his many toys when out of the corner of his eye he saw Roger(head person at Wammy's) walking up to the orphanage with a girl that looked about Matt and Mello's age.
"Hey guys there's a new girl." Near stated plainly. Matt paused his game to go look at the new girl and Mello followed in pursuit. The girl had silver hair tied back into a pony tail, the brightest blue eyes, and a terrified look on her face.
"Heh she seems scared..wonder why." Mello stated amused with how scared she was.
"Leave her alone Mello, we don't even know her yet. Try to get to know her first." Matt told the blond.
"Fine," Mello mumbled into his chocolate. Just then a maid came in and told them that Roger wanted to see them. They looked at eachother and then left to Rogers' office.

The three walked into his office and at first only saw Roger but off to the right of his desk wa a shimer of the girls hair.
"Boys I seem to trust you the most to meet our new resident first." Roger explained. He got up and helped the girl stand to face the boys. She stood wobbly as if she had been on a few fights but no scars or bruises were seen.
"Berry this is Matt, Mello, and Near.......Matt, Mello, Near this is Berry."
"Hello," Near said as nicely as possible.
"Hey," Matt said with a smile.
"Heh......Hi," Mello stated taking another bite out of his chocolate. Berry stood staring at the floor obviously scared out of her wits.
"Jeez what's wrong with her?" snirred Mello.
"Shut it Mello!" Matt hissed.
"Excuse her boys, she isn'y quite used to being aroun so many people." Roger stated. Near noticed that Berry had her hands to her face as if whispering to something in them.
"Who are you talking to?" Near asked the girl.
"No one." she mumbled barely audible.
Mello exclaimed," So she does talk!"
"OUCH!! What was that for!" Mello cried out when Matt punched him in his arm.
"Just stop it already," he said as he started to walk slowly up to the girl. Berry stood quietly not wanting to freak out.
"Berry they arn't going to hurt you," Roger said putting a reassuing hand on the girl shoulders. She nodded her head ad Matt came to be standing right in front of her.
"So are you sure you weren't talking to anybody?" He asked bending down so he could see her face. She nodded keeping the gaze between her and Matt.
"Do you guys have to stare at eachother?" Mello questioned.
Near simply stated, "Maby she can only trust someone after looking into their eyes."
"Do you know where any food is im kinda hungry." Berry asked quietly so only Matt and Roger could hear her.
"Matt, Mello, Near take Miss Berry to the cafeteria and before I forget to mention, she will be staying in you guys room until we can get her, her own room."
"Yes, sir" Matt, Mello, and Near replied.

Berry, Matt, Mello, and Near walked down the hallway, down a few flights of stairs, and through another hallway in order to reach the cafeteria. There was a small table with just enough food for the four of them to share.
"You can choose first Berry." Near stated to the silver head.
"Thanks......uh....Near...Right?"Berry asked.
"Yes." Near replied. Berry took some rolls, meat and a glass of water. Once everybody had their share of food the of course started to eat. Berry stated to eat a roll and when Mello looked over he saw a bite out of the roll by the palm of her hand.
"How did you manage to take a bit of the roll by your palm?" Mello asked. As soon as he asked that Meatt and Near looked at Berry as she looked at her had. She then looked at Mello and shrugged.
"Hmph." Mello said folding his arms across his chess. Once they finished eating they showed Berry to their room.
"Apperetly the maid know about this because there is a little section just for her now." Near said.
"Yeah seems like it." Matt said observing the newly constructe room. Berry just looked at the room from the doorframe and saw some messy parts and some fairly clean parts as well. Just as she steped into the room her cellphone (yes she has one they just didn't know.) went offv(ringtone:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbfdJOCdzLc&feature=related).
"Hello?" Berry asked.
"Yes.........ok..........Just leave him some food you can get your own he can't...........He isn't going to hurt you............You've lived with him...........Really?..........Ok thank you........Yep.........Ok..........Bye," Berry hing up the phone as the boys just sared at her as if she grew a second head.
"What?" Berry asked completely comfused.
"YOU CAN TALK!!" Mello cried out.
"Yeah I'm not dumb you know." Berry stated.
"Right.....Oh look! your stuff. Why don't you go unpack?" Mello suggested. Berry just stared for a second.
"Ok." she walked over to the closed off part of the room and looked at the suitcases that were completly empty.. She pretended to put stuff away because everything she needed was in her backpack. Berry alked out of the enclosed space and looked at the scene: Matt was back on his video games, Mello was somewhat paying attention and eating chocolate, and Near was sitting back at the window with another toy. Berry walked past Mello and sat down next to Matt to get a better view of the game he was playing on the tiny screen.
"What game you playing Matt?" Berry asked out of curiosity.
"I'm playing Call of Dutty Black Ops.....Why do ask?" Matt replied to the curious girl.
"Can I play with you?"
"Ppppppffffftttttttt.....You play a killing game? YEAH RIGHT!!!" Mello exclaimed.
"You can play if you want after I finish this game" Matt said ignpring his friends actions.
"Ok,' Berry said glaring at Mello who somewhat shrunk under her glare. After a few minutes Matt finished his game and won.
"Let me plug in another controler." Matt said getting up.
"Ok.'
"I bet she can't beat Matt," Mello whispered to Near.
"I think she could." Near whispered back.
"So it's a bet?"
"Yes."

Matt pluged in the controller and handed it to Berry who was sitting on the floor ever so calmly even though she heard Mello and Near's conversation. Matt explained the game to Berry and pressed start. The game was who can kill the other person the most before time runs out.
"She is pretty goo for a beginer," Matt thought as he was killed for the fith time. After an half an hour the game was finished and the score was Matt:10, Berry:25. Mello sat staring at the defeated Matt in disbelief.
"How did she beat him?....He's unbeatable!" Mell thought.
"Told you she could beat him." Near whispered to the blonde.
"Well that was a fun game ...Right?" Berry asked Matt who was staring at the screen.
He looked over to her, smiled, and said,"Yeah it was it's been a while since someone has beaten me." Berry smiled back and looked over at Mello and Near. Mello was still in disbelief and Near was giving her the thumbs up.
"Why don't we go outside it looks a little warmer out now." Berry suggester to the three.
"YOu sure? There's a lot of kid out there you might get scared." Mello said taunting her. Berry shook her head.
"It's not that they scare me it's just that I'm very diffrent from everybody else." Berry said looking at the floor.
"You look like everybody else though." Near said trying to cheer up the silver haired girl.
"I don't mean diffrent as in apperence wise, I ment diffrent as in DNA wise." Berry stated.
"Well we don't like you any less just because of your DNA Berry." Matt told Berry also trying to make her feel better.
"Really?" Berry asked lookin at Matt once more.
"Yes really," Matt said giving her a hug to comfort her.
"Well....um.... are we going outside or not?" Mello asked taking a bite out of his chocolate once more."Yeah lets go," Matt said leading the way out followed by Berry, Mello, and Near.
"These guys are nicer than anybody I've ever met...well except that Mello kid but I guess I will just have to get used to it," Berry thought as the four reached outside.

It was sunnier then the morning and not as many kids were out. Mello went to play soccer with some kids, Near was playing chess with a guy in glasses, and Matt was sitting by the wall playing his Ds.
"Now what game are you playing Matt?" Berry asked as she sat down next to him.
"Super Mario Kart...It's a racing game." He told her.
"Oh thats cool." she replied. Berry watched for a little bit but then decided to listen to her Ipod. She was listening to the Geek in Pink (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvKRPt7DvIA) when she fell asleep on Matt's shoulder. Matt looked at her from the corner of his eye and smiled.
"She doesn't seen that different but I guess we will just have to get to know her better," Matt thought as he resumed playing his game.
"Hey Matt want to play a round a soccer with us?" Mello asked from in front of the gamer.
Not particulary....why?" Matt questioned not looking up from his game.
"Just curious....plus some guys left the game cuz it was 'too cold' " Mello said taking a bite out of his third choclate bar.
"Oh," was all Mztt could say.
"Hey guys..what's wrong with Berry?" Near asked as he reached the group since he won his game of chess.
"She fell asleep while listening to her Ipod." Matt answerd.
"Hey it's almost lunch why don't you wake her up so we can go eat." Mello told the red-head.
"Fine," Matt turned off his game and slightly shook the sleeping girl.
"Berry wake up it's time for lunch." Matt whispered. Berry slightly opened her eyes only for them to close once more. Since Mello didn't want to wait any longer he decided to wake her up himself.
"GET YOUR BUTT UP!!! I'M HUNGRY FOR GODS SAKE!!!" but as soon as hebent down to hit her head she kicked him where no boy wants to be kicked.
"Owwwwww," Mello whimpered as he fell to the ground.
"Dang she can kick hard ....and fast." Matt thought as he looked at the leg that just kicked his friend. After a few seconds Berry put her leg back down and snuggled gloser into Matt not knowing about her surroundings.
"So how are we to wake her up now?" Near asked slightly scared to get any close to the sleeping girl.
"I have no idea." Matt replied still shocked at her reaction. They stared at her for a bit and then at Mello who was still on the ground. After a few seconds Berry woke up.
"What happened to Mello?" She asked rubbing her eyes.
"You kicked him when he yelled at you to get up," Near explained.
"Oh sorry I didn't mention I'm not the easiest person to wake up..hehe," Berry said rubbing the back of her head.
"YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!" Mello cried out.
"UHHhhhhhhhhh....so why were you guys tring to wake me up?"
"Lunch," was Matt and Near's replie.
"Ok" Berry stood up followed by Matt. Matt and Near helped Mello stand and started to walk to the cafeteria. Berry followed closley behind. The cafeteria was pretty full. Mello had a lot of food on his plate, Matt and Near had a respectable amoutn, and berry had rarely a thing.
"Hey you ok?" Near asked.
"Yeah I just don't eat a lot after I take a nap." Berry replied looking rather weak.
"Well once we are done eating we can go back up to the room and you can sleep OK?" Matt asked looking rather worried.
"Yeah ok."

About ten minutes later the group went back up to the room. Near grabed a different toy and sat back by the window. Mello went back to eating chocolate and reading a book. Matt went back to his video games after he gave Berry a hug.
"I really hope she is ok and that she isn't keeping anything that could help her a secret." Matt thought barely paying attention to his game. Berry was asleep in the bed that was provided but woke up after an hour to get a drink out of her bookbag.
"I have to make sure none of them find this or they might freak." Berry thought as she put the drink back in her backpack.

A few hours after she went back to bed or two hours before dinner Matt got bored of his video games and layed on his bed waiting for Berry. Mello fell asleep with chocolate on his face and Near was still sitting by the window. Berry got up and as soon as she steped out of the sectioned off part of the room she was tackled by Matt.
"YOur finally awake ...I've been sooo bored for a few hours now." Matt excitedly exclaimed.
"Oh really? Well do you want me to play a game with you?" Berry asked.
"Yeah I have this racing game we could play let me go set it up. and with that Matt was off setting up the game.
"Wow he was waiting for me to get up and didn't try to wake me...how nice." Berry thought as she smiled. She looked behind her to see Near sitting with one knee to his chest and the other on the ground.
"Hey Near what's up?" Berry asked the childlike teen.
"I just wanted to make sure you were ok." Near said.
"Oh yeah I feel much better after that long nap."
"That's good....can I watch you and Matt play that racing game?" Near asked as Matt finished setting up the game.
"Sure I don't mind." and with that Berry grabed the controller from the ground while Matt set the game for two-player.
"So Berry what level and what map?" Matt asked as he pulled his goggles onto his face. Berry giggled and told him," Um medium and the one by the ocean."
"Ok but I warn you I am the best there is at this game."
"That may be true but you never seen me play I can be a very dangerous racer.
"We'll have to see about that."
"Ok" and with that Near yelled,"AAaaannnnnnddd START!" the two started the game. Berry was in first place and Matt was in third about to be in second.
"YOur not getting away that easily," Matt told Berrry.
"Heh we'll see." and with that Berry took the first turn without a problem while
Matt almost crashed into a wall lossing his second place title.
"How'd you do that!" Mello screamed apperently now paying attention to the two racers.
"I have some tricks up my sleeves," Berry said calmly as three more turns came up. As Matt was about to pass Berry she turned and he almost fell off the platform in the water.
"Dang how can you turn perfectly?" Matt asked
"They arn't that hard to manuver you just have to know how."
"Later you'll have to teach me how you do that." Matt said trying to surpass her once more.
"Ok, But it isnt that easy it takes a lot of practice."
"Well I practice every game I have ever gotten...NOOOOooooooooo!" Matt cried out as he was now in fourth place because he forgot to pay attention.
"Wow....Matt you acctually forgot to pay attention." Near said completley dumbstruck.
"I know shut up!" Matt said trying hard to catch up to the first place holder.
"Matt don't try to hard you only have three more laps as do I so you still have chances to get first place." Berry said taking a ramp.
"Yeah I guess so," Matt said taking the same ramp unlike the other racers.
"Why'd you take the ramp?" Mello aske completley confused.
"It's a shortcut to the finish line to start a new lap." Berry stated trying to speed ahead some more.
"Oh" Mello breathed. Berry and Matt were on their last lap and Berry was still in first place. Matt was trying hard to surpass Berry but was failing horribly.bbThey missed dinner in order to see who would win. They were about three miiles away from the finish line and in order for Matt to win he pushed Berry's car off the ramp in order to reach the finish line first.
"Hmph you think thats going to work do you Matt?" Berry asked.
"Yeah ...Why?"
"Because even if I dont get on the ramp there is another shortcut coming up soon."
"WHAT!!!" Matt yelled almost lossing focus.
"Yeah......right.....here" and with that Berry took a sharp right and the finish line was a few feet away. Matt was so close to the finish line but Berry barley beat him to it.
"NNOOOOOooooooooooo!!!" Matt yelled falling to the floor.
"Matt you did a good job you came in second place"
"How'd you beat me?" Matt said his goggles completly messed up. Berry fixed his goggles and put them back on his head the gave him a hyg.
"Thanks" Matt said hugging back.
"Your welcome, and I'll teach you the secrets to the diffrent maps tomarrow ok?"
"Ok" The four of them put their stuff away and ventured off to bed. Once they all said good night to eachother the went into a soundless sleep.
"That sure was fun can't wait for tomarrow it is going to be fun," Berry thought as she took another sip of her drink.
"Goodnight guys" was Berry's last thought before she drifted off into her own dreams.
