Unthankful (Shine_on's Contest Entry)
This is for Shine_on's huge contest. Hope I'm through for the first round...
Peter was never really into Thanksgiving. He hated turkey, parades bored him, and he despised watching football. The only thing he liked was that it was a long weekend and he was able to catch up on sleep. On days off, he usually slept until noon. On this Thanksgiving, that's not the case.
"Peter, get up!" His brother Troy was tugging him.
"What?"
"Just come."
"Okay."
The two were walking down to see what was on the news.
"Today, a massive 7.8 earthquake hit Memphis, Tennessee. Not the most usual place for an earthquake. It was felt as far as St. Louis and many homes were destroyed. No reports on the death toll yet."
"Dad's in Memphis right now. His flight was cancelled. They said earlier that the airport was destroyed."
"Do you mean?"
"I called him five times. No one answered."
His sister Julie got up and started running crying.

Very Good! If you want some advice, the chapters could be a little longer.
It was supposed to be a short story
Ohhhh... I get it now... Sometimes I can be brainless that way...
The emotion in this is very firm in this story. I love it!
