At First Sight
I'm been wanting to make a love story that is mixed with all the love stories we are familiar with. (You know what I mean!) So, it's not really a fan fiction of the beatles or some other celeb. It is taken place during the Renaissance area for France, just to make things a little different. I promise each chapter won't be long. And this is based on a famous story but with twists and references to others.
Enjoy!
Chapter 1
Renaissance, France
Julie-
I'm laying in bed, replaying yesterday that I wish to relive again.
Yesterday
The sun was fairly hot in France today. I was running through the bustling streets of Paris and I'd be late for my first class. 'Why can't people move?' If only I'd known that it would be this busy but I slept in. Finally, I reached the academy just in time.
My professor, Lady Whitting wasn't pleased and gave me her dead stare. I just sat down so exhausted. The day was so slow. I really wanted to go back to the comforts of my bed. But, my mother would be on me that I needed my proper education. Oh, I don't know who to follow sometimes!
I finally got to the house and my mother stopped me at the front. She looked at my shriveled dress after scurrying down the streets.
'How many times have I told you you can't come into this place looking like a dog from the docks of Paris? Nevermind now, we will discuss this later. Come now!' I reluctantly went in as the house servants put on a dress that my mother picked out.
'Why am I wearing this dress?' I asked in french.
She smiled, 'Well, we got invited to Monsieur Faber's party.' I gasped in shock.
'But, don't you-' 'Yes, I know my child but we can't let the public know about our problems with them. We have reputations to uphold.'
'Yes mother,' I replied, wondering how this will turn out.
'Besides, the Pattersons will be there.' 'Really?' I questioned. I felt a little relieved. Me and Alexis of Patterson were close as two friends could be. The servants loosened by corset and finally added the last gown of beautiful red.
'Now, I want you to behave but don't you dare talk to those Faber boys, our families can't be adjoined and you know that.'
'Yes, ma'dam. Of course, I won't.' I'd never really met the Faber boys, so what harm could I do?
Raoul-
Yesterday
'Raoul! Let's go! You are such vilain today,' my friend joked. I carried my viol to the opera house to practice to play in the opera, Carmen. My fellow friends often teased me on such a thing.
'Raoul! You are a Faber. Shouldn't you be a fighter like your brothers?' I'd smile and gently say, 'I have no interest in the pain of others and the scene of blood splattered, ending a life.
'What? Do you read that in those books or play by that bafoon in England?'
I'd always point by finger at them. 'William Shakespeare isn't a fool. His works are meaningful and have purpose.' They laugh. Why do I spend time with these folks if they enjoy humiliating me about by love for art, music, theater?
Maybe because I am a Faber. My father is one of the closest to the king. Such as a knight is. They smirk and laugh and I walk past them to get to the opera house sooner. God! I just remebered, I have to attend my family's party tonight.
And the public forcefully invited the Kinlochs to the party. This won't end well. I do not want to attend this. Mother would probably have a fit. I turn away from the opera house and walk home, thinking of the new play I read about- Romeo and Juliet.
