Chapter 1

The Common Canvas

Pride doth come before a fall
and all the walls come crumbling
down and in that little hole
you realize that you left me.

There's a calm surrender, to the rush of day, with no individuals, just blurs of similairity. Some of these smears stick out, bright reds and greens on a dull grey canvas, a canvas ruined by humanity. God I hate humanity. Everyone is so cought up in themselves, what they need, what they think, not listening, not considering anything but themselves. I used to think that maybe I was one of those rare, bright smears, but that was before I met Carmen. Carmen changed me- and my poetry- like nobody else could. but then again, she could change anybody in my dreary world. She was bright, exciting, different,. She was different. Not a dark smudge, but a cleanly painted line. Amd she knew it. she was proud. "Pride doth come before a fall." If only i had known...maybe she would still be with me....but no, she would've outgrown me. Like she did everybody. Note to self: when she comes crawling back, reject her. it'll be good for me.
