Chapter 1

Chain

I sat in my class, staring at the board. Though my body was there, my mind was else where. It was almost the end of the school say and I couldn't wait to get home. I glanced at the clock. Five minutes. It seemed like an eternity. Suddenly, a note fell on my desk, all crumbled up. I flinched, just slightly, suprised. I picked it up and opened it, seeing that it had red writing on it.
"What are you doing after school? -Len" I mumbled very lightly.
I looked up towards Len, who was busy pretending to be..well, busy.
"Nothing, why?" I wrote back.
When the teacher turned away, I quickly slung the paper ball over to Len's desk. He responded imediatly, uncrumbling it and reading. Then, he picked up his red pen and wrote something. Before he could finish, the bell rang and everyone jumped up, basically running out of the class. I could hear Len sigh as he gathered his stuff, shoving the note in his pocket. As he walked over to me, I went busy on putting everything in my black messenger bag.
"I was wondering," he started to say when he reached me. "If you wanted to go to the park?"
"The park? Sure." I said, slinging my bag over my head and smiling at him.
We both left, not having to stop by our lockers, and started the walk to the park. It was rundown and no one ever went there anymore, so it was Len and Mines little meeting spot. Funny, because that's where I had met him in the first place.
Len and I met when I first moved to the small town of Kater. We were both five and little. I had ran off from my parents and Len was just there. We became friends instantly.
Len has black, spiky hair, blue eyes and a good tan. His tall and strong, and if it werent for his twisted mind, he would be really popular. But he claims that he likes being true and being an outcast. Like me.
I have white hair that's always in a ponytail, which goes to my upper back, red eyes and pale skin. I have a twisted mind, like Len.
When we reached the park, we both went to the park. I threw off my bag, leaving it on the rocks and sat on a swing, Len sitting by me. We started swinging, laughing louder as we got higher. Every now and then, we would jump out, landing on our knees, then run back and do it all over again. Finally, as it started getting dark, we started going home. Both of us lived close.
"Hey, Attia?"
"Yeah, Len?"
"..I wanted to give you this."
Len held out a Golden rabbit with pink eyes that was on a golden chain necklace. I gasped. It was beautiful.
"I don't know if I can accept it Len! It's so pretty!" I excaimed.
"I want you to have it." He said and with that, put it over me neck.
"Thanks, Len." I said, hugging him tightly.
He returned the hug and we started walking again. My house was before his so I went home first. We said goodbye and I went staight to my room. The rest of the night until I fell asleep, I laid and played with the golden rabbit.
