Forget

Those who heard of the offer, but did not receive it, scoffed and scowled, and scorned the very fact than any human being could accept it. But for those who had the offer put to them, the words suddenly had a drastically different meaning. They forgot that they had once thought the words cold and unfeeling, and suddenly found themselves questioning themselves, and exactly what their utmost desire really was. The words sounded so very soothing, so calm and infinite.

Forget guilt,

Forget anger,

Forget heartbreak,

Forget joy,

Forget hope,

Forget love and despair,

And stay forever here, in bliss.

Those were the exact words spoken by the tempter. And after any mortal heard those words, how could they possibly refuse? No, the select few that were given the choice, always succumbed in the end. And then, after the tempter slinked away into the darkness of the night, the tempted would sometimes stumble back towards their home, sometimes lie, flat upon the earth below them, and never move again, and sometimes they would run screaming until their throat bled, a morbid smile plastered across their face. They had accepted the offer gladly, and had found their island of bliss, in the depths and darkness of their mind.
