Rocker Twins Head To High School

by: Nanswai
PROLOGUE:
I walked into my school, tense as usual. Jamie had pulled my curly blonde hair up in a French bun, adjusted my square, black glasses and made me wear a white jumper. Shifting my textbooks to my left side, I’d opened my locker, waiting for something bad to happen. And… Then it did. My locker was slammed shut and someone shoved my books to the floor. I didn’t bother to even see who it was; I just leaned down to pick up my books. “Hey! Loser, get up from the floor!” Someone kicked off my glasses and I felt tears prick behind my eyes. “P- Please d-don’t.” I whimpered. “Nerd!” someone scoffed. Then…
“HEY, TOUCH HER AND THE HAND YOU USED WILL COME OFF!” A voice screeched, I immediately assumed it was Jamie. No one else had that degree of anger when it came to friends. I heard footsteps running away and then a scream. Next thing I knew, I had my glasses back on, Jamie was smiling at me and hugging me, and… James was on the floor? I almost felt my heart shatter. ‘J- James? It was you?” I whispered, hurt. He just stared at me blankly with those hazel eyes. Jamie glared at him and said, “Let’s go; my idiot twin doesn’t deserve to be near you.” She’d whipped me around and pushed me to first period as I cried.
That was a long time ago. I definitely wasn’t the same girl, not just physically. Sure, I’d gotten taller, my blonde hair wasn’t curly, just straight and I’d died part of it black and red. But so did my personality, I went from unspoken nerd girl to “rebel rocker” as Jamie, my best friend put it. It’s not like I suddenly used graffiti or started getting in detention. I was still me, sixteen year old Rebecca Nickels; I was just louder and bolder. I still loved corny jokes, puns, and picnics in the park with strawberry smoothies. I just found new hobbies, like skateboarding and singing. I know it sounds lame but it turns out I’m pretty good, Mrs. Everest, my drama teacher says I should sing at the school talent show. And she doesn’t tell anyone that. But it’s not about that, it’s that I got over him. My ex- best friend James, the one I used to go on picnics with, but things change and so do people. Is it my fault he went all popular on me and left me in the dark? No, and it never will be.
Chapter One:
I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing and I grinned, “Tiiiime for school!” I yelled, flashing my pearly white teeth (what’da you know, braces were worth it!). Jamie popped up from the floor, her auburn hair sticking out in all directions and her glasses propped on her nose. “Who’s ready to ROCK?!” she yelled, throwing her hands in the air. I snorted, force of habit, and yelled back, “WE’S ARE!” Jamie fake-gasped, “O.M.G. Did Mrs. Perfect Grammar for the Year just say a made-up word?!” I smirked, “The world is my dictionary!” “YOU GO GIRL!!!” Jamie shrieked, hugging me. We both toppled over, falling on the floor. We cracked up, until tears came out of our eyes and our stomachs cramped. “Okay, let’s pick up our outfits!” Jamie smiled, waving her car keys. “Yeah! To Sk8er’s” I cheered, running downstairs. Sk8er’s was the new store they’d opened up at our mall. It had a bunch of vintage, rocker, chic stuff. SO stuff just for me! Jamie went next-door to Madame Perkin’z where they sold all of this glitzy, sparkly, glossy material so you could use to make your own clothes. Jamie loved it, considering she wanted to be a fashion designer. "So...." Jamie said blowing out her breath. "What's on your mind?" I sighed, slinking down in my seat, "Stuff. Things." She rolled her eyes, "And what kind of stuff and things is this?" I opened my mouth, about to answer when she said, "No. I know you're just going to say "Stuff. Things." again! For real, I've been your best friend since practically birth. Spill." I crossed my arms and looked straight ahead, not wanting to see her reaction. "I'm thinking... About.... Your brother. Your think he'll bother me again?" Jamie's eyes slid to mine and she frowned, "Sweetie, you need to rethink the question. Are you going to be bothered that he's bothering you?" That was a mind-bender. Would I? "N- no. I promised that I'd stop caring, right?" I was still unsure. "So you do. Care I mean." she smiled. I glared, "What are you planning?" "Oh nothing..." she smiled again, looking back to the wheel. "Hey! Stop! Quit being a safe driver and tell me what you're planning!" I yowled. She just whistled and I was stuck. What was she planning?....
