Dragonflies And Summer Love
Summer love is something teenage girls look forward to. A steamy romance that you want to last forever, a feeling that brings a smile to your lips, it's something that Amanda Aldrean doesn't want to ever end. And it all started when she moved in with her girlfriends from high school.
Chapter 1
Let Go
"C'mon Amanda, let's go. We've got a long road trip ahead of us," Daisy yelled from the packed car. Her blond hair was slapping her face as the wind picked up speed. I could just make out her blue eyes as they squinted at me in confusion.
Sighing, I took one last look at my high school. He was standing there, his hand resting on the top of his truck. My breathe caught in my throat as I chocked back the tears. He smiled sadly at me before sliding into the truck and driving away with a few of his buds.
Daisy and Zoe's eyes followed my gaze. Zoe's bright green eyes softened as she grabbed my hand lightly and pulled me into the car. I let her without putting up a struggle. A lump was forming in my throat and I swallowed it back, determined not to cry.
"He's a douche bag Amanda. There will be other guys, trust me," Zoe smiled at me and we all let the silence envelope us until Daisy couldn't stand it and cranked the radio to full blast.
"I'll fine be," I whispered to myself just as the first of many raindrops hit the car. The mood seemed perfect and almost ironic. Reaching shakily, I drew my initials on the backseat window and sighed again.
----
Awaking with a start, I rubbed my eyes until my blurred vision became clear. Zoe and Daisy were already grabbing suitcases from the trunk and hailing them towards the house we had bought. My legs were cramped from the tight space and I fumbled to unbuckle myself. Once that task was accomplished, I crawled the tiny space it took to open the car door and fell backwards with yet another sigh. My eyes drifted closed as I listened to the sounds of birds chirping and my two best friends laughing.
The sounds were relaxing but I opened one eye cautiously as I heard some deep voices mix and mingle with my girlfriends higher pitched ones. And then my other eye opened as I jumped up with fright. It resulted with me banging my head hard against the roof. I moaned and the guy who had startled me tried to stifle his laugh
"I'm sorry. Oh gosh, are you alright?" he asked while I rubbed my head. My hair must have became frizzed and tangled from my awkward sleeping position and the stranger reached his hand towards me in a gesture that I thought meant he wanted to introduce himself.
I was wrong.
Partly.
He grabbed my hand gently as he pulled me out of the car and then shook it. I blushed slightly. The stranger's buds wandered over to us with my two best friends. They all seemed to be friends already.
"Who are you?" I asked curiously and I laughed at the response.
A guy with spiky black hair threw his arm around his friends shoulder. He was still gripping my hand.
"You can call this guy sexy boy," he laughed as the guy blushed too and let go of my hand. He struggled away from his friends grasp.
"Please, call me Sam," the male who had first shook my hand chuckled. It was obvious that he was embarrassed.
"Amanda. And this is Daisy and Zoe, they're my girls," I muttered as I fixed my shorts.
"Nice to meet you Amanda," Sam replied with a smile. My blush must have became a deeper crimson red because my friends winked at me. "Would you lovely ladies like some help unpacking?"
