Tragic Magic: A Witch's Forbidden Love
Chapter 1
Tragic Magic
It was a sunny day as Velvet walked up the steps to her new highschool. It was an hour before the bell, so she had time to explore. As she walked, her brown, shoulder length hair swayed, the sunlight glinting off of it. Her brown eyes had flecks of gold and silver in them and showed no emotion. She was of course, not happy about going to the highschool. Velvet hated being around humans, not to mention the fact that there was most likely no one else in the school that was a witch or any body from the Scropion World. Velvet looked around in the long, white halls lined with blue lockers and colorful posters on the walls. Glancing down at a piece of paper in her hand, she walked over to her locker. Number 13 shone proudly on it, the lock glinting, never giving away it's secret numbers. She smiled only slightly, glad to have her favorite number. Plus, there was the fact that she had a top locker and not a bottom like her last school. Walking past it, she looked above all the doors, reading the names of teachers. Sometimes, she would see people inside that classrooms and glance quickly away. She found the staircase leading to the second floor and quickly run up it. Her eyes were drawn to two, large, green doors. The library. Velvet wondered what this library would have in it, what books it would hold, what secrets. Reading was one of Velvet's favorite things.
As soon as she walked in, she knew that the library was one of the places that people rarely went to. Their was only about five people in the room, one exploring the books and the rest at different tables, seeming to study. No one glanced up at her when she walked in, which Velvet was grateful for. She glanced around, walking to a shelf labeled "Fantasy". Suprisinly, she found many books about vampires, witches, shapeshifters. Almost every being from Scropion. She quickly read some of the titles. Leaning down to the very bottom, she pulled out an old, dusty leather book. It had not title on it.
"Interesting..." She thought, turning it over in her pale hands, her finger nails painted black.
"Hey, I haven't seen you at this school before." a voice said beside her.
"She looked up, seeing a boy of her age with spiky black hair and amazing electric blue eyes, that had dark circles in them. For a moment, Velvet couldn't think of anything to say.
"Oh, I'm new." she finally managed to say, breaking the silence.
"Ahh. Well, welcome to Corilos, the school of horror." he said with a smile.
"School of horror?" Velvet asked curiously.
"Well, you seem like someone who doesn't like popular, girly girls. Or am I wrong?"
"No; your right." Velvet smiled at him, just a small smile, but it seemed enough to make the conversation go on.
"So...I'm Julius. You?" he said, his grin growing slightly wider.
"Velvet."
"Nice name."
"Same to you, Julius."
Julius looked at the book. He tilted his head.
"What's that?" He asked.
"Umm..." at this, Velvet opened the book. ""Secrets Of The Dark World"" she read.
"Sounds... interesting. Are you gonna get it?"
"Yeah, I believe I'll read it." Velvet said, noding.
They both walked over to the check out, where a old women in brown glasses took the book and checked it in Velvet's name. Velvet whispered a hushed thank you and started to leave the library.
"Wait up!" she heard Julius scream after she had reached the stairway.
Velvet turned and saw Julius running up to her. She waited at the stairway. When he finally reached her, he grinned slightly.
"Sorry; didn't think you would come with me." Velvet said.
"Of course; you need someone to show you the ropes and we're both in the same classes."
"How did you-" Velvet started to say.
She was cut off by Julius holding up a yellow peice of paper that had Velvet's classes writen on it.
"Oh." Velvet smiled.
They both started walked down the steps, making small talk. Velvet could hear the sound of other students, talking loudly. As Velvet started to walk outside the room, Julius grabbed her hand.
"Wait-" he started to say but was cut off.
An electric current ran through both of them, sending a feeling of warmth. Their eyes widened quickly, in suprise. Velvet yanked away.
"What...what was that?" Julius said, staring at her.
"I...I..." Velvet started to say.
The bell rang and a rush of students came in. Velvet and Julius were seperated.
"Saved by the bell..." Velvet whispered.
She ran to her locker, ignoring Julius' crys for her. She grabbed her stuff for first period and ran to Science. She ignored the stares, the whispers and of course, Julius.
"Why?" She thought.
Velvet knew what the shock that had occured was. She had found her Soulmate.
And of course, it was a human.
And of course, it was forbidden to love a human, to tell them about Scropion.
And of course, the pentatly for both was death to both witch and human.
AND of course, Velvet couldn't help but glance at Julius all day, think about him and her. Even when she went home and laid on her bed after finishing homework, all she could think about was Julius.
Why did it have to happen to her? Why couldn't her soulmate be a vampire or even a shapeshifter?
