The Angel in the Snow: A poem
Hey, so here's a poem I wrote just wee back. It was snowing a little and...I thought I saw someone...like an angel.
Chapter 1
The Angel in the Snow
Sally lay in the snow, cheeks red from the howling wind,
Her arms were wrapped around herself, eyes nearly blinded by the rapidly falling snow
The sea of snow buried her limp form, her damaged vehicle stood beside her
Broken from the crash…just as she was.
Frozen, cold
Broken, damaged
Sally prayed for an angel
An angel to take her home on that Christmas Eve
Then warmth touched her face, melting away all the ice in her
A hand held hers, squeezing it gently
Sally’s eyes met a another pair of eyes on a kind face, the most bluest eyes she has ever seen
“Don’t be afraid, Sally,” said a voice, a voice warm like the sun, “I will take you home.”
His words wiped away all her fears
Covering her with a blanket of hope
He lifted her up in her arms, and she felt like a feather floating in the harsh winds.
“My name is Joshua Halo. I am here,” he kept saying, “just close your eyes…”
Sally awoke to jingle bells and a bright light
Her family surrounded her bedside, tears of joy sliding down their cheeks
“Merry Christmas” was passed around with kisses and embraces
But one thing was in Sally’s mind
“Where is he?” she asked, “Where is Joshua Halo, the one who saved me?”
Everyone exchanged looks of confusion.
“Joshua died three years ago, in an accident.”
Sally looked up at the ceiling, past the ceiling, past heaven
She thought she saw a pair of blue eyes smiling back at her
She whispered a thank you
To the angel in the snow
