Why Does Everyone Compare HARRY POTTER and TWILIGHT?

Reads: 5 | Chapters: 1 |

This frustrates me to the end of the world.

Chapter 1

Why, people, why?

Okay, so everyone (well, a lot of people) know about the Harry Potter vs Twilight competition. I'm wondering... HOW CAN YOU EVEN COMPARE THEM?
I have read and seen every single Twilight Saga book and movie. It irks me. So I am not one of those Twilight haters who hasn't even given Twilight a chance, okay? 'Cause I have.
I have read and seen every single Harry Potter book and movies more than five times. I love it. It's that simple - it is an amazing series.
Was that so hard? I didn't compare them. I just stated my opinions on each series.
Let make a table for the differences between Twilight and Harry Potter, so we can see how different they are.

TWILIGHT

Badly written (Meyer raped a Thesaurus)
Characters are not well developed
Points/ideas/plotline that are made in the first book are broken by the fourth (i.e Bella can't stand the smell of blood in 'Twilight', but by 'Breaking Dawn' she is drinking cup's and likes it during her pregnancy with Renesmee, Newborns are supposed to have trouble controlling their thirst, yet Bella is able to very easily)
It is a very popular story just retold again, rendering the plot unoriginal
It appeals only to teenage girls and middle-aged woman (Don't believe me? Go see it in the cinema)
It does not send good messages to young girls (i.e Bella decides to marry at the age of eighteen instead of getting a job and going to university, Bella goes into depression and jumps of a cliff when Edward leaves her)
It is rather sexist (i.e Bella nearly kills herself so she can hear Edward's voice making it seem as though a female needs a man to live. I have had my heart broken badly, and I'm over it - I was a while ago. Bella also always needs someone to save her, and Edward controls Bella in a ways, for example, he removes parts of her car so she can not go visit Jacob)
Bella is too perfect - being "clumsy and klutzy" is not a flaw
It is a romance/supernatural novel
The conflict is resolved by the end of 'Twilight', and the sequels are/were not needed
Meyer is afraid to kill the characters off, which is why none of the main characters die (she has said this herself - not word from word, obviously)
The plotline was not planned out book from book (Meyer has also said that she never intended to write 'New Moon' and 'Eclipse')
The plotline is predictable
It appears to condone abuse (i.e, Jacob forces Bella to kiss him in 'Eclipse')
It sells sex (i.e, Bella throws herself at Edward before they are married, and it makes teenage girls think that it's okay to have sex if they think they "love someone")
It also sells Pedophilia (Jacob imprints on Renesmee, Quil imprints on Clarie Young. I know they are not "lovers" but you see my point)

HARRY POTTER
Very well written
You get to know the characters inside and out
The plotline is consistent, with no changes
An original work of literature, and there is nothing like it
Appeals to a wide variety of people - children, adults, teenagers, males, females (i.e, I'm a fifteen year old female, my brother is a twenty year old male, my English teacher is a forty-something year old female. What do we have in common? We all like Harry Potter)
It sends good life messages (i.e, the fact that Hermione returns to school to complete her seventh year, Harry rebuilds his life and gets the family he's always wanted)
It includes feminism, without discriminating against males'
The character's all have flaws and have more complex personalities (i.e, Hermione is smart, but she is bossy and can be arrogant)
It is a fantasy/adventure novel
The conflict goes until the seventh book, keeping the reader interested
The plotline was planned from the beginning (Rowling has said this)
The plotline has many twists and turns

There. I compared them. Did I have to? No. If you like something, great. If you don't, oh well.
And somethings you can compare - the writing, the cast, the filming, etc. but you can not do that for the characters or storyline.

Well, I'm done my rant... please comment or message me if you want to argue with me/agree with me or whatever.

(By the way... Harry Potter > Twilight. Just saying XD)
