The doctor shifted in his seat, his hands clasped together.
"Well Ms. Skye. We've tested your urine sample and we found sugar in your urine."
She looked at him with a blank, yet understanding expression.
“You think I have diabetes?” she calmly asked.
“Yes, well. We ran tests and your blood sugar level is quite high too,” he said.
“How high?” she said blankly.
He checked through the records, “14.1.”
She nodded. She heard a squeal from her eldest sister but she didn’t budge. She nodded understandingly and blankly, as if it was any normal news. “What do you propose on doing now, Doctor?” she asked.
“Well, let’s just run some IV in you, you’re lacking water. And we’ll put in some insulin in your blood to help your blood sugar level go down. Good?” he looked up from his notes, tapping his pen.
Beth nodded. She heard a tiny weeping sound, coming from where her sister sat. She looked over her shoulder and gave her a comforting smile, as if she was the one who needed the comforting.
“It’s okay,” she mouthed to her sister and gave her a thumbs-up.
She turned back to the doctor and agreed to the plans made.
