My Life in Ruins
Sydney Granger was a teenager starting 8th grade at a new school. Can she survive the last year of middle school when her life seems to be falling apart? (coment for the next chapter)
I sat down in my first class: English with Mr. Larch. I was sat next to a girl with dirty blonde hair. I started talking to her. She had a high pitched voice and I learned that her name was Miranda. She seemed nice. We compared schedules and it turned out that she's in all but one period of mine. I asked her if
she wanted to eat lunch with me and she agreed. Lunch finally came around and I was super hungry. I searched for Miranda in the cafeteria and found her sitting with her other friends. Of course! I was thinking I would have her all to myself and I suddenly felt selfish. I sat down next to her and started conversing with her friends and learned their names: Julie, Brooke, and Hailee. The day went on after that just going from class to class but I did one important thing: I made friends!
After being friends with her for about a week, I decided to tell her my secrets because I knew I could trust her. I whispered into her ear: "Sometimes I have siesures and I can forget up to two days. Please don't tell anyone, I'm really embarrassed about it..." Miranda promised she wouldn't tell anyone. I also told her about my crush that was growing on a guy named Zack. The bell rang and I went to my next class: science with Mrs. Wood. I was sat next to someone named Mary Elle Shine but people call her Mary Elle. We talked with the time we had left and I really liked her. I decided to try and be her friend. Just then, the
bell rang and the teacher stood up. Suddenly, Zack burst into class and rushed to his seat. The teacher tsktsked. "I'm going to have to mark you down as tardy." Before I knew what I was doing, I stood up to his defense. I heard someone whistle in the distance and I blushed. "Do you have something to say, Ms. Granger?" Mrs. Wood said challengingly. I shook my head and sat down, embarrassed. After class, Zack came up to me and asked me why I did that. I just pushed my way passed him and stalked off to lunch. I sat alone today and felt tears welling in my eyes. I embarrassed myself infront of not just Zack, but the whole class. I found Mary Elle seating herself beside me. She asked if I was
ok and I nodded through tears. She gave me a small hug and started to eat.
