A Mako Love Story

“Kaida! It’s almost time for the pro-bending battle!” shouted my friend, Bhumika.

“Coming!” I shouted. I ran over to my bag and placed my comb in it. I turned around and took a deep breath. I followed Bhumika out into the battle ring. Arun was waiting for us. He looked up, to see us come out.

“What the h*** were you guys doing? We’re up!” I rolled my eyes. Arun always acted like this whenever he was nervous, or angry.

“Relax, you don’t need to be all worked up about this” I said. He snorted, he was about to say something when we heard that the battle was going to begin.

“Ladies and Gentlemen! It is my pleasure to announce the benders in this battle. On the blue team, we have Arun, firebender, Bhumika, earthbender, and Kaida, waterbender. On the red team we have Bolin, earthbender, Korra, as a waterbender, and Mako, firebender” the announcer said. I looked at my opponents. Korra stood there in a waterbender position I knew well. Bolin had looked at each one of us, his gaze landed on my friend Bhumika. I assumed he decided to fight her. Korra had her eyes set on Arun, as if he was her prey. I looked over at the other kid on their team. He had his arms crossed over his chest with his eyes closed as if he was thinking. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the announcer begin to speak.

“Players! Are you ready?” he asked, “Get set! Begin!” Korra ran towards Arun at full speed with a wave of water behind her. Bhumika began her bending. I was too busy watching to notice that Mako was gone. (Me: dun dun dun ^.^) I looked around me and saw that he was above me and was about to land on me. I stepped to the side and moved my arms behind my back. He threw throw after throw at me, fire coming from his hands and feet, and I kept dodging, making him even angrier. I smirked while he had an angry scowl on his face. He was breathing hard when I deiced to attack. I drew the water from below the the stadium and hit him with full force. He stood there dripping in water, breathing hard. He looked up at me and then a grin spread on his face. His eyes traveled behind me and i glanced in the direction he was looking. Arun and Bhumika were on the ground. I was the last standing. I looked at the ground and knew that I was surrounded. I took a deep breathe, and controlled the water to form large octopus arms surrounding me. This was an old move and was a lost art until I stumbled on some old scrolls, so no one knows any of my waterbending techniques... yet. Bolin, Korra, and Mako got their elements ready to fire them at me. I braced my water octopus to protect me, but it didn’t stop the huge rock that came through. I fell on my back and groaned in pain. My parents weren’t going to be happy if they find out.

“The match is over! The winners are the red team, Korra, Bolin, and Mako!” said the announcer. I rolled over onto my side and curled up into a futile position. Tears came from my face as i lay there in pain.

“Are you ok?” asked a voice . I looked up and say that it was Mako from the other team. I looked at him through my tear strung face.

“I’ll take that as a no” he said and picked me up. He carried me to my team’s pit. My guard was waiting for me when he got there.

“What the h*** happened to you?” asked my guard. I looked at him with an annoyed look as Mako set me down on a bench. I winced in pain. A medic came over and began to heal me as I sat there.

“Are you okay now?” asked a voice behind me. I looked and saw that it was Mako...again. I scoffed at him.

“Well it seems you are since you’re showing hatred again” I snorted at this remark.

“Well I'm going to go and finish up my tournament... you’re welcome to watch” he said.

“I’d rather not... it seems you’ve already kicked my a** today. I don’t feel like watching others get whooped today by you” I retorted.

“Suit yourself” he said and walked off.

“Jacka**” I mumbled to myself.

“It looks like you took a beating out there” said my guard.

“Thank you Captian Obvious, now help me back home, there’s no point in sticking around” I said to him. He grunted and helped me walk back home. I had no idea on how I was going to explain this to my parents.
