Chapter 1

The Sorting

by: BakaGreen
Once the forty first years walked into the castle Professor Longbottom hurridly escorted them into the castle and explained everything before everyone got escorted into the great hall. Lizzie was the first one of the seven to get sorted. She walked up and sat down. The hat whispered something to her and she looked at Rex, "GRYFFINDOR," it cried. The table applouded loudly. Norah had a feeling her cousins were the loudest.

Nina went next. The hat barely touched her head before crying, "GRYFFINDOR," to the entire hall. Lucy was next she happily skipped up to the stool and sat down. She appeared to be having a conversation with it. Norah swore she saw the hat roll it's eyes. "RAVENCLAW," it said.

Sophie was called, she was still holding her large, old book. The hat was about to say something but she looked angry that's when it shouted, "SLYTHERIN," to the entire hall. Her face broke out into a rare small as she walked to the table of green and silver.

Norah waited for her turn standing next to Lillian who was still trying to read. Rex looked rather uncomfortable since Lucy and Lizzie got called. Lillian refused to acknowleged him, because she hated for some reason that no one will ever know. "Malfoy, Norah," Professor Longbottom called. Slytherin was started whispering and Sophie sat there smugly as if she had a secret she would never tell.

Neville smiled at the girl before placing the hat on her head. Ah, another Malfoy. This should be easy, but maybe not. Your father got placed in Slytherin, but had the heart of a Gryffindor. Your mother too. So where should you go? Your friends are in Gryffindor,

"No!" she whispered to the hat.

You crave to be different, I see that here. You don't belong in Hufflepuff, but I see how smart you are, how witty. Cunning too. You do have wisdom, even if you don't let it show Norah laughed, but then covered her mouth. The Sorting Hat was being sarcastic! I know exactly where you belong...

"RAVENCLAW," the hat cried. Ravenclaw looked slightly puzzled, but not as upset as the Slytherin table. She jumped off the stool over to where Lucy was sitting, releived. This was where she belonged.
