Dear "Non-comformist emo kids".
A little rant I did, don't mean to offend, don't comment if you're a hater. Trolls welcome, though. Trolls are always welcome.
Chapter 1
UNSTABLE. Got it?
The term "emo" means emotionally UNSTABLE.
CRYING once in a while does NOT make you unstable.
Going to bed at 11 o'clock does NOT make you an insomniac.
Feeling neglected once in a while does NOT make you a depression patient.
Having a violent thought or two does NOT make you schitzophrenic.
Having a mood swing does NOT make you bipolar.
Cutting does NOT make you cool.
Saying you're depressed does NOT get you sympathy.
AND HAVING "BIG HAIR" DOES NOT MAKE YOU "EMO."
Emo is a style of music. Did you know that? It comes from punk, pop, rock, and emo-core, quite usually; and this is coming from someone who is QUITE strict about music terms, so I'm putting this bluntly.
When talking about a person, emo is referring to being emotionally unstable.
The difference between "scene" and "emo".
EMO: A genre of music, or, an emotionally unstable person.
SCENE: (google definition) The early first decade of the 21st century (2000–2003) still had some 1990s fashion trends until it slowly became less grungy and more excessive as the wearing of flannel by people under 30 declines and acid-washed jeans and shaggy hair become again commonplace for boys and men.
Um...okay! And I AM aware of the modern adaptions of the two, but if you're gonna be "non-comformist" and "individual", the least you can do is try.
Rolling out of bed and spraying your hair so stiff it looks like a shítty lions mane crossed with a birds nest does NOT equal scene hair.
Mascara and eyeliner do NOT equal a statement.
Getting blonde tips does NOT equal individuality.
So I'm asking you, if you are TRULY trying to "make a statement", be different and unique, you have to stop doing the same thing!
I think that certain styles of scene can actually be insanely cool- bright colored or dip dyed hair, lip piercings, knee high converse- that shít rocks.
And most "emo boys" are quite hot. (Alex Evans, helloooo?!)
BUT I'm just giving my opinion; that word? It does not mean what you think it means.
Liking heavy metal does NOT make you emo.
You all say you hate labels? STOP LABELLING YOURSELVES!!
Stop saying, "Oh yeah, I'm emo," or, "I'm so scene," And then later saying you hate labels. PICK A SIDE, PEOPLE!!!
Soo...sorry. I probably just píssed off half of you. I have no problem with individuality, I like to think that I'm an individual, too. But I do NOT label.
So how about we all form an alliance to stop the labelling?
No hate comments telling me I "wouldn't understand", please. I hate those.
Anyway...yeah. I wrote this at three in the morning. Goodnight, interwebs, I apologize for my raging. :)

I think I love you. Because you just put everything I wanted to say to people like that into this story in a perfectly amazing way. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! (:
BRAVO!
=)
i totally enjoyed reading this! it ROCKED
Yes, you are right! Sure, I'm weird. Sure, I have trouble sleeping. Sure, I hate most people I know. But that doesn't make me emo.
I think you make a really good point. Now with the whole labeling thing, yes I do understand where you are coming from there. It's like saying one thing and doing another. I personally sometimes label myself for example I would call myself a writer and tomboy. I like to use thing as descriptives about myself because I think they can work well so I think that may be why people label themselves. But I don't really like it if someone labels me.
So from that I draw the conclusion that if you label
ourself and like that label, then that's alright. Just don't try to be something you're not. But labeling other people is not okay because those people may not like that label. If they label themselves and say to you that "oh yeah I'm (insert label here)" then I guess it's okay to call them that if they say it is.
So label yourself if you want (because I think they can be very good descriptive words to use) but don't label others or only live by a certain label you give yourself. I mean who
would only use one descriptive words about themselves? Like if they asked someone to describe themselves and they only used one word, that would not be answering the question fully. The conversation make go something like the below:
Person A: Describe your personality, feelings and complex emotions please.
Person B: Nice.
Person A: Anything else?
Person B: Nope.
Person A: So you are just nice? Nothing more to you?
Person B: Yep. Just nice.
Person A: You sure? There must be more? Are you funny,
smart, creative, upbeat, happy, sad or anything else?
Person B: Nope. I am just nice all the time, 24/7.
Person A: .... Well you're boring.
So if you live by that label it could make you boring or just like everyone else. So yes, I very much agree with you SHES_A_REBEL. People should try to be different.
Wow, I just said a lot of words..... Sorry about that.
Anyhow, well said SHES_A_REBEL! I very much enjoyed reading what you wrote.
Luv your rants and you r so right, like "we're nonconformists so if you dress like me, talk like me, and do the exact same things that I do you can be a nonconformist to!" No.
FINALLY! Someone who understands all of that. I have gone through heck with the emo's I've come across.
And then the label :/ wow, thought u were agreeing.
Emo never meant emotionally unstable...ever.
Other than that, I...really stopped caring about these sorts of labels a LONG time ago (by which I mean 2008 or so, but hey), so it's hard to summon back my concern without starting to call myself "goth" again.
Anyhow, I think people can call themselves whatever they so choose, as long as they're not in everyone's face about it constantly.
Level of attention needed, given.
Actually it did, the two definitions of the term emo were "emo" as in a style of MUSIC, and emo as in EMOtionally unstable. The modern adaption, however, is big hair and dark clothes.
I am unstable.
I am an insomniac. I usually go to bed at 3 a.m., if I do.
I am depressed, I have been diagnosed.
I have a small case of schizophrenia, like seeing things that aren't there and having frightening thoughts.
I am bipolar. I go through multiple ups and downs every day.
I hate it when people say something like, "God, I feel so depressed. Johnny doesn't like me!"
So... I like how your words went. I don't know the point of this comment, other than the fact that I know about disorders.
who are you calling a kid i may be only 11 but im really strong and one thing i hate to be called IS KID DONT CALL ME A KID IM VERY SMART AND BRAVE AND STRONG and if you make fun of me I WILL FIND YOU AND TEACH YOU A LESSON OR TWO
I'm only gonna say this once, but KID doesn't mean that you're not any of those things. Hold on to your childhood while you have it. Our generation has grown up too quickly. Trust me, growing up isn't anything to get excited about. Take pride in being called a kid. I'd love it if I could still fall under the name 'kid'.
I think I just fell in love with you.You just said everything Ive wanted to say to the people who have been trying to put labels on my friends and I for years.I cant stand it,and yet people insist on calling me emo.I mean, under the definition I suppose I am one-Having depression, having cut for a long period of my life, and being suicidal for 8 years-But I just don't like the label. Its not JUST who I am.I like what and who I like,I act crazy,I get shy,I AM ME! Thank you for reading my rambling :D
