Chapter one: The fire

One night, a small girl around of the age of seven was sleeping in her bed chamber. It was midnight on Christmas eve. The child's name was Melody. She had long curly blonde hair and bright green eyes. She was asleep, dreaming of wonderful things in her large bed. The bed had a large white comforter, and white sheets, and pillow cases. The same color as the room itself. The only spot of color was the sleeping girls nightgown, made of a rich warm bright red fabric, and the blood red glowing eyes of the black cat lying next to her on the bed. The girl stirred in her sleep.
"Mummy....Daddy" She mumbled, drowsilly rubbing her eyes and siting up, her hair standing out in all directions. The smell of smoke drifted slowly to the groggy seven year olds nose and she looked around.
"Mummy?" she called, climbing out of her soft bed, carrying her red eyed cat Lucifer with her.
"Daddy"? She called again, worry growing in her small heart and filling her body to the brim. She descended the stairs, every now and then tripping a bit at the long nightgown her mother had made her wear. When she reached the parlor, the sight that greeted her innocent eyes was not pleasent. The entire room was ablaze, the fire slowly creeping towards the frightened girl. She heard caughing, and recognised her mothers voice calling for her father.
"E...Edward?" Melod's mother called out, voice raw from crying and caughing, and calling and the smoke seeping into her lungs and burning her throat from the inside out.
"Mummy!" Melldy called to her mother steping closer to the flames, but her mother called one last time, for she would never be seen alive again by her poor young, innocent daughter.
"Melody, darling, me and papa love you! stay back! get out!" Her mother called through the smoke and flames, voice sounding even more raw as more tears started flowing down the womans cheeks, though her daughter wouldn't see them. Melody would never see her smiling face again, her bright green eyes and freckles, or her bright unnarturally red hair ever again, and the thought scared Melody's mother.
Melody....Please remember me....and papa....Never forget that we loved you was Melody's mother's last thoughts and she finally suffocated from the preasure and lack of air around her. Melody started to cry as she ran upstairs fire following her as she went. She grabbed as many of her clothes as she could and her father's golden watch, her mothers rosary and stuffed them into a sack she had. She opened her bedroom window, and climbed out into the big green spruse outside the window and climbed down as the fire trucks and ambulances pulled up into her yard.
Merry Christmas mummy....Merry christmas papa.... she thought bitterly as she collapsed onto the ground and blacked out from smoke inhalation.
