Chapter 1
the plane
June 2,
12 am
Until this day on June the second I did not know that dreaded man, was sending me away. Yes, I know what you’re thinking that man is was my father. He said it would only be a week, but I knew he was lying; he’s not the greatest liar. I could tell just by his eyes that I was going to be there for a longgggggg time.

Sadly, I am now on the plane. My aura is so dark it scared away my flight attendant guide. The movie just started; how convenient, it’s called ‘Abandoned’.

Despite my jet lag I am to board another plane. There is a guide waiting for me, a fake smile plastered on her face; she didn’t want to be here. She seats me in my waiting area and tells me the plane should be about ten minutes, great ten more minutes with my thoughts. Gazing around there are about four shops: a Starbucks how convenient, a book store (full of biography’s), a bagel shop YUMM, and a treasure store. I’m intrigued. I have seven minutes left so I’ve decided to get a bagel and check out the treasure store.

Surprisingly, my favorite thing about airplanes is that feeling you get in your stomach when you take off. I really wish I had paid more attention in social class right now; I hate reading maps! Yes I did get a map from the treasure store, but its missing a piece. How great a dysfunctional map; I’ve been scammed! Truth be told, I’m scared to death about Jamaica, who knows what’s going on down there. All I know is that Auntie Vee is picking me up from the airport. My family lives in the North West Region of Jamaica. They live in the real Jamaica not the absurd commercial vacation spots you see on TV all the time. You haven’t seen Jamaica until you see the Real Jamaica. The Jamaica where families do laundry outside, where the exotic fruit in your back yard is eaten freely. You haven’t seen Jamaica till you’ve seen that.

Whenever I’m on a plane I cannot sleep. I’ve been awake for seven hours; I guess I’m still mad about the missing piece of the map. Stupid good for nothing- wait there’s writing on the back it says “a piece missing there is, to find look up then down then wish it found”. Well that was convenient so WHAT THE FRUIT CUP DOES THAT MEAN!

Stressing, stressing! Up then Down, Up then Down. Ugh! I looked up, then I looked down, nothing to be found! Maybe I should read it over “a piece missing there is, to find look up”, did that, “then down”, Did that, “then wish it found” didn’t do that. Well I guess I found out what I did wrong, “wish it found?” like magic? Hmm. well it’s worth a shot. Look up, Look down, wish it found. HOLY TASERS IT WORKED! If I put the pieces together you know where Orange Bay is and that’s where I’m going. The first clue is there, but I know I cannot, do it on my own. I’m going to need some help.

I am in Jamaica. I’m burning up in this heat I think I might be getting sunburn; and I’m still inside! Where the popsicles is Auntie Vee! I can’t wait to see everybody, Chan, Chrystal, Uncle Colinton, Jadica, Auntie Jennifer, Auntie Ann Marie, Papa Bruce, Auntie Netty, and Quite. The only things I hate about Jamaica are the rice and the intoxicating heat, definitely the heat! I met my great Uncle Franklin today. He has a white beard and owns a blood orange orchard. Uncle Franklin is one of those guys that have a lot of knowledge, but creep you out. Uncle Franklin found my map he told me I should go find the treasure. I told him I couldn’t do it on my own. Then he laughed and said you won’t have to go on your own and walked away Personally, I think he’s a nut. So now I ponder what that means.
