Chapter 1
The Advance Guard
"MUNDUNGUS FLETCHER, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" Hermione and I both jumped. Even from three floors up, we could still hear Dumbledore as if he were right next to us.
"What did Dung do now?" I murmured.
"I don't know..." Hermione stood from her bed and headed for the door. I got up to follow her.
Ron, Fred, George and Ginny were already leaning over the landing, listening.
"Why, why would you leave like that?!" Dumbledore yelled, though not as loud this time. "Do you realize what you did?! He almost died!"
"You don't think..." Fred whispered.
"Wasn't Dung on guard duty?" Ginny asked.
We all shared similar masks of horror. If Dumbledore was this upset about Mundungus leaving Harry, something must have gone terribly wrong.
The yelling continued for some time, until finally... "I can't hear what they're saying..." Hermione whispered.
"I'm on it." Fred said, lowering an Extendable Ear.
"... have to get him right away." Mr. Weasley was saying.
"It may take some time to get a proper guard together." Dumbledore said.
"Well, we can't leave him there for long..." Sirius mumbled.
"No, we can't. We'll have to call a meeting tomorrow; we can plan this out then. For now, I have a letter to send..." and without another word, Dumbledore Disapparated.
"I better write to Harry as well... He might plan on running off." Sirius said. There was the sound of chairs scraping and Fred quickly retracted the Extendable Ear. Just in time, too, because Mrs. Weasley entered the hall right after.
"Dinner's ready." she called up to us. We all nodded and made our way down to the kitchen.

"Right. Let's get this started. Vance?"
"Here."
"Shacklebolt?"
"Here."
"Doge?"
"Here."
"Diggle?"
"Fred, move over, I can't hear!"
I strained my ears, missing the luxury of Extendable Ears. Mrs. Weasley had come across the last available pair and confiscated it the day before. The six of us all crowded around the landing of the second floor in an attempt to listen in on the meeting. Mad-Eye Moody had just started to go through the order of the Advance Guard.
"Alright. You four will be circling." Moody growled. "Nymphadora, -"
"- Tonks, Mad-Eye. Call me Tonks." Tonks said with an annoyed tone.
"I want you in front. Lupin, you'll be bellow. I'll trail behind."
"Be careful! And bring Harry here safely!" Mrs. Weasley called.
The Guard began to make their way toward the kitchen door. Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, Ginny and I crammed into one of the empty rooms on the second floor so they wouldn't know we had been listening in, but left the door open so we could hear.
"You don't think You-Know-Who will show up, do you?" Emmeline Vance whispered.
"The Dark Lord may plan on it. We could very well have a spy in our midst, if-"
"Doge, hush!" Lupin called. The Guard went quiet.
After a while, Moody called, "I can see you six, I hope you know..." Fred and George cursed, and left the room.
"Take us with!" they said together.
"We're of age!" said George.
"And we're great fliers!" said Fred.
"No! Absolutely not!" Mrs. Weasley called up to them. "Now all of you, get to your rooms!"
"Good luck, you guys..." I called as we filed upstairs. Tonks winked up at us, and they walked out of the house, broomsticks in hand.
