Falling For You (For glamorousgirl's story contest)

"One cheeseburger," said the woman. She had long, curly brown hair and looked to be about in her thirties.

I pressed a few buttons.

"Anything else?"

"That's all," she said, and pulled out a couple bills from her pocket, and handed them to me. I gave her the change: 55 cents.

I sent the order to the chefs and soon they came out with a cheeseburger on a tray.

I rung up some other purchases when I saw Cathy, the other part-time worker, leave her station to go.

I saw Mikal walk up to the counter to take over Cathy's spot. He had wavy blonde hair, shining blue eyes, and tanned skin. I glanced over at him, but he didn't seem to notice me.

"Two chicken nuggets and an Oreo Sundae," said the next person in line.

The customers just kept coming and coming. I kept working until it was quarter past two. Then I cleaned up my stuff and left.

~~~3 Hours Later~~~

Oh my god, I hadn't noticed that Mikal was so hot, I thought as I made ankle bracelets in my room that night. He has a girlfriend, though. Don't think about him. He's... Taken.

Those thoughts pierced my mind as I thought them, but I knew they were true. Sierra was loyal to him and he loved her as much as a fish loved water.

It was hard not to think about him, but I did it. I ended up trying to find small beads all over the floor, and I slapped myself whenever I thought about it.

I ate dinner quickly and quietly. I didn't talk much except for a few remarks like, "Love the Chili" or "I'm done."

This was getting complicated already, and I didn't know what to do. I loved him with all of my heart, but I knew I couldn't get him. Sierra was too protective, and he was too in love with her.

I cried myself to sleep that night.
