Daddy's Bad day.

Shay did not know that Daddy's were not supposed to hit their wives. She had seen it happen time and time again when she went into a room she was not supposed to... and she saw them fight.The first time that she came home to find mommy crying she did not make too much of it. Shay was of course 7 years old; though she was smart she did not suspect anything. Then when she came home after a great day at school she ran to the house ahead of her sister to tell her daddy about the great news. Her family was not like most, her dad was the one that stayed home and her mom was the one that went out to work. she liked it this way, it gave her more time to spend with daddy and she knew she wanted to tell him everything about her day. How her teacher had told her she did the best in the class, also how one of her teachers had taken her away from a game with the friends that were 2 grades ahead. She had said it was not fair to the other kids if Shay could play the games and they could not.
She did not notice the yelling until after she had opened the door and she had seen her dad's hand come in contact with her mom's face. That SMACK sound make her stop dead in her tracks
"Shay honey!" her daddy said. He had a big smile in his face and he picked her up. "How was your day sweety, why don't you tell me all about it. Tell Abigail to come and drop her bag were going for ice cream"
She did not understand, maybe mommy did somethin wrong and that was why daddy had to punish her. Like he punished Shay and Abigail when they did something wrong. If they talked back to mommy or daddy, even if they did not do as they were told daddy would take his belt. sometimes he would make them Take a shower first, then he would pinush them. She sometimes had the mark with her for weeks, and other times the pain lasted so long that mommy had to bring ice cold water in. He always apologised and Shay felt worst, she was making him do this behaving as she did.
They did as they were told, but Shay did not go straight to her room. She walked a little slow so that she could to through mommy and daddy's room and she could give mommy her kiss.
"Mommy are you ok" She said and she saw that her mommy was lying on the bed, with the covers over her head.
"Sorry sweety my head hurts really baddly can you please turn off the light and close the doow"
"Yes Ma'am" she said and she did as she was told.
Shay did not ask any more, she just had a good time while her daddy took them to get Ice Cream. She could still see mommy's face as she began to walk back home. Her mommy did not cry when she was hit, and she realized that her mommy was strong like she was. She no longer cried too, she just let god help her. She made the same prayer every day.
"Dear God, i know that your up there and i know that you can hear me. Can you please send your angels to protect my mommy. She is really sad all the time, and i want some time to play with her. Can you please tell Daddy that i was a good girl at school today? Please if anything in this world. can you please let me see New York, just once. Also, God... .. can you please tell daddy that mommy works really hard and that he is making her sad? please tell him to apologize, Amen"
The last thing that she wanted to do was sleep, her nightmares would come back. She was not afraid of snakes, she was not afraid of leopards, Shay was however afraid of being left Behind.
"Anthony you should know by now that our money is tight. you can't just take them out every time that they see us fight. Your going to make us more broke than we already are" The sound of a bag of powder hitting the dresser was evident in the way that the sound escaped the walls.
Shay's head imidiatly went in between her legs and the figure infront of her shook her a little. She made room for Abigail infront of her and they hugged each other as the fight in the other room continued.
'God if your still there, i forgot something. Can you please make Abigail and I deaf? we talked about it, and we want it that way. Do you make fast delivery?' She thought as her little Sister shivered in her arms. Shay calmed her down and did not get Abigail realize that the same tears that she shed, were also coming out of Shays eyes.
up in heaven, a man in a white robe shed teard of gold. For the little girl that was taking someone else's pain away and storing her own. He shed tears for that mother that did not know how to leave, and gave her strength for the day that, that mother would be free. Taking her wings and flying away, liberating those two little girls.
