"Class, this young lady is new to our school and country, so be nice. This is Jaeger Kendra." I smiled and waved. I wont get used to the backwards name thing, that's for sure, but at least i know Japanese. "Uh... Where can i sit?" The teacher looked around the room. "How about in the back row, beside Ojoh Yuuma?" I nodded and went to sit down. I smiled to him. "Hi, I'm Kendra." He looked over at me, and i couldn't help but blush. "I'm Yuuma. Nice to meet you. You're German, right?" I nodded. "How can you speak Japanese so fluently?" I sighed. "Its complicated, maybe I'll tell you later, i mean, if you want to hang out...... Or something."
"Sure, you can meet the rest of my friends." "That would be-" "Miss Jaeger, Mister Ojoh, are you quite finished yet?" I hid my head as class continued.
Before i knew it, it was time for school to end. I walked with Yuuma to our street, it turns out we were almost next door neighbors. There was one house between us. Yuuma said that one of his friends lives there. We were close to my house when a boy came out of the house between our houses. He froze when he saw us.
"M-m-m-" He ran over and hugged me. "Mother?!?!" I was shocked. "What?" Yuuma punched him. "Whats with that? Do you hug every new neighbor, or what?" He sighed and turned to me. "Kendra, this is the crazy guy who lives between us, Keidai Saeki." I looked down at him. "Are you ok?" I held out my hand to help him and he took it. He just stared at me, not letting go of my hand. Tears started pouring out of his eyes. "Uh..... Yuuma?" "It happens all the time." "Kai-san? What are you doing?"
"Hello." I looked around Keidai at the girl that came out of his house. She was pretty. "Can you please ask him to stop crying and to let go of my hand? Hes hurting me." Then all of a sudden he let go and grabbed the other girls shoulders. I fell backwards, tumbling into Yumma's arms. I looked up at him. "I'm sorry." "Its fi-" "That's her, Loleus! That's my mother." "Huh?" Then he clasped his hand to his mouth and collapsed to the ground. "Uhm......" We all just stared at him. "Keidai? Are you ok?" I sat beside him.
Although freaked out, i was generally concerned for him. I put my hand on his shoulder. "Keidai?" He then hugged me, sobbing into my shoulder. Surprised, and a little embarrassed, i hugged him, trying to console him so he would stop crying. "Ssh... Its, uh, ok." I looked up at the other two. "How often does he do this?" "More than you think."
Then he sat back up and wiped his eyes. "I-im so sorry for my behavior. Its nice to meet our new neighbor." We both got up and i stood as far away from him as possible, behind Yuuma and the girl he called Loleus, although i doubt that was her real name. "Ah." He looked stunned that i was hiding from him, it shouldnt be any surprise though. "Uhm, Yuuma?" "Yeah?" "Can we, like, go?" He looked between Keidai and i. "Sure. Wanna head over to your place?" I nodded. I looked over at the girl. "By the way, whats your name?" "Oh, I'm Mii Serizawa." I smiled. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kendra."
Then i left with Yuuma. I leaned in a little. "Hes kinda...... scary. Is that normal?" "With him? Very." "Really?" "Yeah, every time he sees me, he calls me Serena." "Serena? But isnt that a girls name?" He nodded. "Well, you dont look like a girl to me." He stopped. "I-I dont?" I shook my head. "Wow, thanks..." "No problem." We got to my door and i turned to him. "Would you like to come in?" "Sure." "Great. Just," I opened the door and took off my shoes. "Be careful. My mother can be a little......" "Kendra! Who's this? Is this a new boyfriend? wow, he looks so cute! On the first day too. See! I told you you could make friends. Oh, whats your name?" He was about to speak, but she interrupted him.
"Would you two like some snacks? Oh! Since we moved here, i've been baking up a storm! Theres nothing to do, being a housewife, is there? Its so dull." She offered us a plate of cookies and i covered her mouth. "He isnt my boyfriend. His name is Yuuma. We're taking these cookies up to my room. Good bye, mother." I spoke slowly, contrary to her voice. "Oh, well, very well. I'll just be down here, baking some more." I nodded. "See you at dinner." I took the cookies and we headed upstairs.
"Sorry about that." I took my jacket off, throwing it on a chair. "And sorry about the mess, we're still moving in." "No problem. I could help you, if you'd like." I smiled. "That would be great! You can come over tomorrow, right? After school?" He nodded. "Thank you, so much, Yuuma." We sat there eating cookies and talking until dinner. "Kenny!" My mom yelled up. "Derrel's here! Its dinner!" I sighed. "Has it really been that long?" "Oh, i guess i have to go now?" I nodded. "Here, i'll show you out." We maneuvered past all the boxes and made our way downstairs.
"Well, bye." I smiled. "See you tomorrow." We stood there, awkward for a minute. Then he held out his hand. I shook my head, smiling and hugged him. "You're a great friend, Yuuma." "Oh..... I mean, yeah. You too." I waved to him and turned to go eat dinner. "He's cute." I shrieked. "Dad!" "Nice boy. Looks like a girl though." "Dad!" He laughed and we walked together, arguing even at the dinner table. We didnt let mom get one word in.
