How to Survive Middle School: The Outfit
Hi. I'm Katie Burke. This is my diary of how I survived middle school. I didn't survive it very well, because of course every school has its popular girls. Or what my friends and I call " the Pops". And not every girl can handle them perfectly.
Chapter 1
Chapter One: Back to School Shopping
It was July 24th. There was a month until school starts. It was Black Friday, and all of the expensive stores had AMAZING sales. Whether it was 20% off or 80% off, I was definitely going to buy something. Hopefully. The first store we checked out was HollyBug's. HollyBug's was a store that wasn't really my type. It was my mom's type. Ruffle's and Ribbons. Unicorns and Princesses. Pink tee-shirts with Cinderella and Snow White's heads in pink hearts. I had definitely grown out of that stage. To satisfy mom, I bought some cute earrings with frogs on them. Of course they were covered in sparkles and sequins, but THAT, just THAT, was okay with me. The second store was Britt's. Britt's was a pretty good store with stuff just my style. I spent most of my time shopping there. I came out with three bags. One bag was full of cute graphic tees. The second had two pairs of jeans. I could not live withought jeans. I pretty much wear them every day. The third bag was a little bag. It had a green scarf, a headband, and a pack of barettes. Just as we checked out, my mom started speaking. I couldn't listen to what she said. I was too busy looking at the store window across from Britt's. It was called Off The Runway. There was an outfit in the window, that totally caught my eye. It was a brown tee- shirt with a baby blue and silver plaid pattern, flared denim jeans, and blue ballet flats. I stared at it. My mom stared at it too. "You want it don't you?" "Yes. But that's okay mom, you don't have to." " Honey, you'd look so cute in it. C'mon let's go check it out. I supposed if it's a reasonable price, you can have it. " I replied," Oh mom. It's.....It''s okay. You don't have t---------
She had already began walking. Excitedly, I followed her. We checked out the price. " Thirty- eight for the set." " Oh, that's not too bad, actually!!!!!!!" Mom grabbed a size fourteen, a size six shoe, and headed to the checkout stand. What was up with her? Usually, she liked to spend her money wisely, buying only what we needed. Hmmmm....... maybe she realized I needed a new wardrobe, too. Finally. Not only Katie Burke, the owner of the clothes realized it. I couldn't wait for school started. I dreaded this day when I woke up. It meant school was getting closer. That also meant Maddie Martin was closer. She's one of the Pops. The rudest, most impolite, fashion freak at my school. York Middle School has its Pops. The thing is.......Maddie Martin and Katie Burke used to be like peas in a pod, best friends. Yep, that's right. Maddie and I were like sisters. From second grade to fifth grade, we were never apart. That's until sixth grade started. Addie was a whole new person.
