Happily Ever After

As I sat there, in my purple arm chair, my arms crossed over my legs, eyes looking down, and my back hunched over. I thought about love and where it could be. I thought about our rivalry between the two kingdoms. I thought about my mom and my dad my big brother and my baby sister. I thought of what we had. I came to the conclusion that I can't just think my whole life, so there I stood, looking at a plain face. There was nothing different or interesting about me. I guess my eyes were a very bright teal color and I had a few freckles scattered under my eyes. My lips were full and pale. My skin whiter than a brand new bathtub. I was slender with good proportion, my hair fell to my chest. My straight hair was dyed black with purple streaks. I took a deep breath and walked away from the mirror to my closet. I opened the doors slowly and walked in. My closet spinning around me full of clothes and empty hangers. I walked towards the section of my most cherished accessories,shoes and clothes. I looked but soon decided to wear a black sweatshirt with the word fear written across it. I slipped on my blue jeans which were tighter than skin. I put on my hello kitty necklace and slipped on my osiris shoes. I then walked out and walked down the spiral stairs towards the very center of the castle, where my mother and father were waiting.
"Ah Maxine, We were waiting" My father said.
I smirked of course they were.
"Your father and I are going away for a week and well we were wondering if you could hold down the fort, since your brother is well..." She faded. My brother passed away in the latest war we had against the Legacy's kingdom. I nodded.
"Of course you can trust me" I smiled not knowing if a 17 year old girl could hold down a castle and take care of her 10 year old sister at the same time. But me being the pushover I am agreed. They both snapped they're suitcases to their sides and were on there way. I sighed and decided to go outside, knowing the nurses could take care of Lizzy. I walked out of the castle doors and got on my horse and rode down the dirt path to the large gates awaiting me. They opened when the guards pushed a button on there sides which was physically implanted. I smiled and went along my way. It had been almost half an hour and I realized that I had passed the separation line between my kingdom and the Legacy's kingdom. I was pretty much screwed unless by some miracle an angel was on line triggering duty. I got off my horse and tried to disguise myself as a lost civilian. My face was plain enough to pull it off. I heard a horse trotting and to my dismay it was the prince. His long black hair swayed into his deep blue eyes. His tan skin reflecting the sun. There was nothing plain about him. Gorgeous in every way. He hopped off his horse and walked his way over to mine.
"Heh, nice horse you got here, did you steal it?" I looked up at him and shook my head. He pursed his lips and narrowed his eyes.
"You sure? This is one of the purest of breeds only my kingdom and the Donavan's have these. The most wealthy Kingdoms. Pheasant speak" He commanded. I pulled down my hood and looked him in the face, he looked a little shocked.
"No I did not steal my horse" I said through my gritted teeth. He swallowed.
"Sorry I did not know." He kicked the dirt with his converse, his keys swinging from his white jeans.
"It's fine, I should leave I'm trespassing." I hopped on my horse with skill and precision he did the same, only his muscles rippled down his arms and he landed with more of a thud. Not the most graceful apparently. I laughed to myself.
"Let me escort you to the border, so they do not shoot you down." I raised my eyebrows in utter shock.
"Thank you" I said. I noticed he lead us the long way instead of straight across and I couldn't figure out why we didn't speak or utter a word. We soon came to an open meadow with a glistening pond towards the edge.
"I must have gotten lost" He said biting his lip, he looked confused.
"I'm sure I can get us out of here, I come here a lot"
"this is beyond the border" He said
"No one would ever find me." I said as I lead my horse toward the padded down path that i had made so many times before to my castle at the edge of the woods I stopped.
"You should go." I said. He nodded.
"Before I leave, I must ask your name" I smiled to myself and turned my horse to face him.
"My name is never spoke, so I should see you to not even need it."
"Maybe I would like to speak of you"
"You wouldn't and that my prince is a fact, goodbye Prince Kaydon." I rode my horse away. I heard him yell.
"You can have my name but I can not know yours?" Who would have thought the Legacy's son out of all people would be as sweet and cuddly as a teddy bear. One thing was for sure they did not speak of us as much as we did of them. My mother adored them, my father the same. They fought so much because of unity and hatred combined. I heard many stories about their death cellar and torture chamber, none of which came from my parents. I thought about Kayden and his Kingdom through the night. Right before getting into bed I heard very quiet thuds on my window, I went to it and looked out. It seemed that there was no one. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I quickly spun around and yelped only to have a hand covering my mouth. I was looking into the eyes of death, well that's what I thought until he spoke.
"Shh it's me Jonathon" I sighed. He was my best friend and was there for me through everything, I had not seen him for such a long time.
"Jonathon you scared me" I scolded.
"What did you think I was Prince Kayden" He said mocking a girl in love.
"No Prince Kayden is a scum" I bit my lip, lying was not my best talent.
"Don't lie you met with him I seen you"
"I didn't meet I just wondered over the border." Jonathon replied with a thundering laugh.
"Don't lie"
"It wasn't my intention to meet up with him."
"Your lucky it was him and not someone else"
"Your telling me" I said sitting on my bed.
"He kept asking what your name was" Jonathon was from the Legacy Kingdom, he worked and was a best friend of the Prince.
"You didn't tell him did you?" Jonathon laughed and shook his head.
"He doesn't deserve to speak your name just yet" We laughed.
"You should go" I said.
"As should you, someones invading your secret place" He laughed
"My meadow?"
"Mhmm Kaydens going to stay there till you go" I bit the inside of my cheek.
"I don't know"
"Go!"
"Why?"
"cause he might be knocking on your window next, get rid of him now"
"You're right" I got up and through on my jacket and slid down the side of my window. I ran to the meadow which took almost five minutes not long. I slowly walked to it him standing in the middle with his hands in his pockets, shivering I stepped to his side and looked up at his face. He looked at the moon and I followed his eyes.
"You came?" he asked.
"of course" I said
"Who told you?" He asked.
"Jonathon" I said simply
"Huh figures that kids a walking parrot" I laughed
"Yeah he is"
"He wouldn't tell me your name though" He said looking down at me. I looked him in the eyes.
"Tony" that was my brothers name. Kaydens eyes widened. and he fell to the ground, it sounded as if he was sobbing.
"Kayden?" I said worried, I dropped to the ground and comforted him.
"Whats wrong?"
"He was your brother"
"So?"
"So we...we"
"You what killed him? I know"
"You don't care" I inhaled
"Of course I care, but I just accepted the fact that we lost him in the war"
He inhaled still shaky.
"Why did you cry?" I asked confused.
"He was my best friend" I was taken aback.
"Tony? Was Your best friend?" They were complete opposites I didn't understand.
He laughed "Yeah, we'd go riding and do everything together"
"He never even talked about my family?"
Kayden shook his head. "No that was a sore subject for us both. Our families are so different and we couldn't focus on our families without totally destroying our friendship"
"Oh, well I should go."
"Before you leave tell me your name" I pulled his face to mine so our foreheads were touching. I looked him in the eyes and smiled.
"Maxine" I then got up and ran home.
Kaydens P.O.V.
I smiled shocked almost. maxine she's beautiful. Her soft features so much more stunning than the rough and edgy features of the other girls. I almost wanted to yell after her, but I was afraid if she heard me she'd come back. I wanted it, but not when it was early morning and the guards were switching shifts. I hopped on my horse Tony, named after my best friend, and rode home. The lights flashed me in the eyes when I came to the gates.
"Name?" The guards asked.
"Kayden Legacy"
"Proceed" The gates slowly opened and Toby trotted in. The guards bowed as they usually do. I walked a short distance to the castle doors. I pushed them open and found my dad waiting in the castle center hall.
"Son, where have you been?" He asked as he rolled himself towards me, my father is paralyzed from waist down. Not wanting to give away Maxines place I said "I was in the forest behind our Castle"
"Why?" My father asked sternly.
"Needed fresh air" I simply said.
"Go to sleep." I nodded and ran up the steps two at a time. I entered my room and looked out my balcony window. Shocked I seen a girl on her balcony looking at the stars. Wearing her night gown she stalked off back to her room only to come out with a sign that said 'Hello' I laughed and she laughed along, it was no doubt Maxine. I waved and she blew me a kiss and held up a sign that had the words 'Good Night, Don't let the bed bugs bite' I smirked and waved again. She slowly walked away giving me one last glance as she shut her doors. I sat there for a while more still seeing her shadow sway in the window, she was dancing. When her lights went out at 4 o'clock I decided I should shut my eyes for a quick sleep.
