Chapter 1

iLook At Me Now

"Freddie, where are you?" Carly Shay said into her phone, pacing around her house. She had been packing for Florida for the past hour and a half, and she was ready to go pick up Sam before they catch their flight. She wore a bubblegum pink halter top that hugged her in all the right places, black jeans, and her favorite black boots; her hair was up in a ponytail, leaving a few strands to hang in her face. She was ready.
"I'm almost home, Carls. Traffic jam," said Freddie Benson, her long-time boyfriend.
"By how many minutes? It's almost 12:30, and our flight leaves at 1:15. Did I mention we have to pick Sam up, too?"
"Five minutes tops. Don't worry. I'm practically around the corner." Freddie laughed lightly, perfectly at ease.
Carly sighed. "Okay."
"I'll see you in a minute."
"'Kay."
"I love you."
Carly's cheeks turned pink as she replied, "I love you too."
They both hung up. Carly walked into the kitchen and looked in the fridge. To calm her nerves and excitement, she found a green apple and started munching on it as she leaned across the counter. She was so lost in the sweet taste that she didn't hear the front door open literally five minutes later-and she was still munching on the same fruit.
Freddie snuck up behind her and wrapped her arms around her abdomen, pulling her body to his front. He smiled when he heard her gasp in surprise and relief, and kissed her cheek.
"Hey, there," He said. "I like that shirt on you."
"Thanks," Carly said, turning around in his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him up and down. "I could say the same for you."
The years have done great to Freddie's body. Even though he wore a blue and white buttoned down shirt plaid shirt that he left undone, a navy muscle shirt underneath, dark jeans, and converse, you could see how muscular he had gotten. He wasn't buff but he had muscles in all the right places, like Carly had curves.
Freddie leaned down and kissed her. "Ready to go?"
"Yep. Your stuff is by the couch with my stuff."
"Alright."
They both walked over and got their stuff, and headed out to Freddie's car-a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo RS. Freddie helped Carly life her stuff up in the trunk before putting his stuff in. As the gentleman he always was, he opened the passenger door for her before he got in the driver's seat.
Luckily Sam didn't live that far from them-an easy fifteen minute drive. They pulled up into her driveway; Sam was already out there, waiting on them, sitting on her black luggage bag. As Carly and Freddie both got out of the car, they noticed what Sam was wearing when she got up-a fitted purple, low-cut cami, distressed denim shorts, and purple converse. Her hair was slung down in a lazy ponytail. Thanks to Carly and self-confidence, Sam managed to be more girly-just not a daffodil.
"Hey, Sam!" Said Carly, hugging her best friend.
"Hey, Carls," Said Sam, putting on her sunglasses. "Hey, Freddie."
"Hey, Sam," Said Freddie, hugging her briefly on the side. The two had shared a more friendly than frenemy relationship. "Ready to go?"
"Yup."
Carly and Freddie helped Sam get her stuff in the trunk. Sam lounged in the backseat as Carly and Freddie got in the front.
"Yo, Fredward, turn up the radio," Said Sam.
Freddie rolled his eyes and turned up the radio. Look At Me Now boomed through the car. Carly grinned to herself-she knew Sam knew every word. And so did Freddie. Lil Wayne's part was on-and it just happened to be Sam's favorite part. And she was rapping it out like it was nothing.
"Look at me now, whoah, look at me now," Freddie and Carly sang in harmony like Karmin(who sang on Ellen). "I'm getting paper, look at me now, whoah, look at me now, yeah-yeah-yeah, I'm fresher than a muh-what?"
"Dudes, you gotta say the actual word, what are you, chicken?" Said Sam. "You two sound good though. I'm just sayin'."
"Thanks," Said Freddie and Carly.
"And we're not chicken," Said Carly. "I only curse when it's necessary."
"It was necessary then." Sam pointed out.

"Whoo!" Carly clapped as they arrived at the airport. "We're fifteen minutes early!"
"Did I not tell you not to worry?" Said a smug Freddie.
"Shut up."
Sam sighed and got out the car. At least Carly had a decent boyfriend. At least Carly had gotten all the attention from boys ever since they became best friends. At least Carly wasn't hurting inside...
She stayed quiet as she followed her best friends inside. Lost in her own thoughts, she bumped into someone while walking, and ended up planning to punch whoever she bumped into. But that someone helped her up, asking if she was okay. And before she could curse the mysterious guy out, she realized she was staring into a familiar, gorgeous pair of brown eyes.
