Chapter 1
Beautiful Eyes
It all happened when I saw her. She spoke to her friend with the cutest small smile on her beautiful face. She flipped her long, thick black hair in the cutest way, and whenever she looked at me in the eye - I'd have to be so, so lucky for that - her icy blue eyes glowed... and she'd smile at me.
Me? I've spent my whole life simply waiting for that one special girl, the one that would claim my heart in a second, the one that made me feel dizzy (which is totally unlike myself.)
I'd like to talk forever about this gorgeous girl named Violet. Unfortunately, I also need to explain myself. My name is Hunter and I am eighteen years old. I've spent my life at an old elementary school named Hillside Elementary and am now at Hillside Secondary. It's May, and I haven't got much time to talk to beautiful Violet... she's always with her friends, I never have the oppurtunity. I wish so badly that she payed more attention to me, but she doesn't. I always feel like such a loser around this girl.
Then one day... while walking home from school... it happened.
The moment I'd been waiting for.
It was pouring rain outside, and my hood barely did anything. As usual, I was thinking about Violet. I just couldn't seem to get my mind off her.
"Hunter, is that you?"
I would always and forever recognize that voice. I slowly turned around and felt my heart speed up. It was her. Her beauty made the rain seem so... minor. She flashed me a gorgeous smile, and I smiled back.
"Hey," I said, surprised that I didn't stutter. Head-over-heels in love didn't even begin to describe how I felt for this woman.
Her smile faded when she looked at my not-so-thick hoodie. "Ah, you must be freezing," she said, and wrapped her arm through mine. A jolt of happiness and warmth ran through me when she did, and I saw her cheeks flush ever-so-slightly. We started walking in the direction that I'd been walking before.
"How come you always wear just... a hoodie?" She asked. The sound of her perfect and flawless voice coming from right next to me was enough to make me swoon. I swallowed. "It's really the only one I like... and I'm never really cold." I looked down at her, and she looked up at me. Always I would remember this moment. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world.
She smiled, and her oceanic eyes shone. I could have stared at her forever, but finally she looked away. "That's cool," she said. "My mom always tells me that I need to wear a coat even in the summer."
"That right there is not cool," I said jokingly, and we both laughed. I loved making her laugh. I just plain loved her laugh.
"I know," she said, and then sighed. "Not much I can do about it. I mean, she is my mother." Then she looked at the white roses we were walking past. I noticed how they were so beautiful, even in the rain - of course not prettier than her, but still. She watched them for awhile until we rounded a corner and ran right into three racoons. They hissed and darted away into a bush. Violet jumped and cowered away from them, leaning more into me, and I felt my breathing quicken. She smelled so nice... earthy and flowery and...
"Did you see that?" Violet gasped, still trying to catch her breath. Her cool blue eyes were wide with panic. I moved my hand to hers and squeezed and her cheeks flushed again. "I did," I said, pulling her away from the bush. "Are you okay?"
Violet turned to me and looked me straight in the eyes, and all the fear in hers vanished. I don't know why. I have a black faux hawk and weird blue eyes and pale skin, so I don't know why she wouldn't be scared, plus people always feel so threatened by my muscles. But here I am talking about myself again.
Violet looked away. "I'm all right."
We continued walking, and, too soon, we reached my house. I felt bad leaving Violet out in the rain, but she seemed fine, so I walked up to my door.
As I was about to walk in, I turned around. I noticed she was watching me.
"Violet?" I said. "Yes?" she replied.
"You have beautiful eyes," I said, possibly too quiet for her to hear. And then I shut the door.
