"Dude the Red Sox are so gonna win!! Prepare to pay me at the end of the game." Ryan says to me and the other guys. I started laughing, "Oh come on. They got one home run. The Mets are gonna win." Right when I said that David Wright scores a home run. That home run gives the mets the last points making them win this game. "Pay up man! I told you." Ryan wasn't the only one who owed me money. I'm the only one in this basement who bet on the Mets since I'm the only one from New York. See my friends are all guys. And we all meet up here in my basement when there's a game. It could be baseball, basketball or football. Sometimes we even watch hockey just for the hell of it even though we've never played hockey. The guys are Ryan, Andy, Steven, Alex, Phil and me. We've been meeting here since freshman year. "Phil, we bet 20 dollars." he looks up from his burger. "Yeah and?" "You gave me a dollar." I said to him and threw him the crumpled up dollar. "So I made 80 tonight who wants to watch the basketball game. It's college basketball but a little extra won't hurt." they all got up and said no. "You've won the last four times we met up. I don't want to lose anymore money." said Andy. "Well what ever I have to go anyway. I promised Marisa I'd meet up with her at 9. Who knows for what." I started walking up the stairs. "Wait!" I heard Ryan yell. "You're going to the game tomorrow right? You know you haven't missed one." "And why would I start now." I turn away before be notices me blushing. I walk to Marisa's (Ryan's) house. I met Ryan when I was seven years old. I had moved to from New York to Massachusetts where my father had gotten his job transfer at. The day I got to my new house his mom had came over with baked macaroni and cheese. He had a football in his hands and asked my brother to play. His sister Marisa walked to me and started talking about all the dolls she had. When I told her i didn't have dolls she walked away. I asked Ryan and my brother if I could join and they said yes. And we've been best friends since.

When I get to Marisa's she's pacing around in her room. "What's wrong with you?" she basically tackled me. "What the hell?" she pulled me to her bed. "Valerie. You know how much I love you right?" I nervously laughed, "Marisa I don't go that way." she whacked my shoulder withe her pillow. "No I need a really huge favor." I raised an eye brow. I don't like this. When ever she asks for favors it's always something I don't want to do. But do it anyway since she barely ever asks for them. "One of my girls dropped from the team. And normally that'll be okay but she convinced a couple other girls to leave as well." "and you need me why?" she smiled at me and now I really didn't like where this was going. "No! Marisa I will not." she got on her knees. "Please Valerie Please. I won't ever ask you to anything else. Just this one huge favor." I never seen her beg for anything. "Fine I'll do it but ONLY because you begged."

~Next Day-School~
Today is the day that I do Marisa the favor she amazingly begged for yesterday in her room. "Ladies, Welcome to cheerleading tryouts!!!" Marisa said in her oh so cheery cheerleading peppy voice. That's the favor, for me to try out for the team. I hate that she always made me come to her practice. I basically memorized the routines. I know how these practice/tryouts work. It's exhausting and after this I have to go to Ryan's baseball game. Baseball and basketball are big sports in my school. I happen to be in the softball and basket ball team. But basketball is in the winter which I did already. "Okay girls. I know this was short notice and I'm glad you all came. I need you girls to be dedicated to this. Once you make the team we are family. And you have to learn these routines. It's no joke. There is a game next week so by tomorrow we will have our girls together." Marisa said more serious. She broke down the routines and I already knew them.

~After Try outs~
"I can't believe you're making me do this." I told her. "I know I'm sorry. But think of it this way, you'll have another thing to add to your college application for the sports part." I glared at her. "You owe me. I know. You can come to Ryan's game today." she laughed then looked at me, "Oh you're serious. Come on seriously?" I nodded. She's always hated baseball or other sports besides cheerleading. That's why she didn't really like me when we met. We became best friends because we both hated the same girl in third grade. And I realized she wasn't that bad. Our relationship is kinda like Jackie and Donna from That 70s show except with out all the insulting. Marisa looks at me and walks out to the baseball field behind the school. It's still early so the seats are just starting to fill up. I pull her to the front bleachers. When the game finally starts everyone from our school stands up to cheer for our team. In the middle of the game Marisa tugged at my sweatshirt. "What?" "What just happened?" ugh. Next time I won't even ask her to come. I broke everything down like I was talking to a three year old. "So the team with the blue uniform, which is us just made a home run. Threw It right out. And now the teams switched. The other team is batting now. And your brother is pitching." she's looking at Ryan. "YESSSS!! Your brother just striked him out."
I explained everything to Marisa the whole game. Which was frustrating. The game ended in 15-8 which is the 5th game we've won this year. "Marie you came to the game? What bet did you lose?" Ryan asked her smiling. "She made me come. She did me a favor. So I owe her one." he looked at me and my stomach dropped. "Must be bad." "Is it! Listen I'm gonna head home. I'm tired." "Oh come on. Don't you want to come celebrate with us?" I stood there and looked at Marisa who had an eyebrow raised and an evil smile. "Yeah sure why not." He smiled and walked to the parking lot. "You should tell him." said Marisa. I've heard this before. "Tell him what?" She looked up at me and just walked away. I've liked Ryan for years. But telling him would only ruin our friendship. And plus he doesn't feel the same and I know. When he likes a girl he goes for it. I wouldn't want things to change.
