The Crew

"AH! Who put that damn Mast there?!" Ellie cried, falling to the ground.

"Nobody did," I said, helping Ellie to her feet. "I think it's been moving!"

"Arg damn Mast!" she growled, stabbing at the Mast with her sword. All of the sudden it came alive. A mouth grew, with sharp, wooden teeth.

"Ellie!" I cried. I pushed her aside, away from the Mast's sharp teeth.

"It's Captain Elenor Rose!" Ellie corrected, but before she could say much more the Mast opened it's wooden jaws and grabbed a hold of my arm.

"Arghhh!" I yelled, in much pain.

"Oh no! Mamber!" Ellie rushed toward the Mast, raising her sword. In one swift move, she jumped in the air and brought the sword down, cutting into the Mast. It released my arm due to the pain of Captain's sword cutting through it's splintery skin. It roared, trying to get Ellie, but one more jab with the sword made it obedient.

"You will do nothing but hold up the sails now!" Captain Elenor Rose yelled at it. It did nothing, just stood there, holding up the sails. Ellie seemed pleased, and turned to me. "We must get that bite taken care of!"

"But, alas, it is too late," I gasped. Captain Ellie looked at me in horror, and I knew what she was seeing. My skin turning yellow brownish, and rough. I felt my body being squeezed into a long, cylinder shaped form. I closed my eyes, waiting for it to end.

It was over in a few minutes. The Mast's bite had turned me into nothing other than.........

A Rope.

I learned to live with being a Rope. I was dead useful too - Captain Elenor Rose, being drunk most of the time on the rum that I used to give her back win I was the Bartender and not the Rope, fell down constantly. I had to catch her quite a few times. Of course, she's immortal, but it would still suck for her to get injured when she has a ship to take care of. I'm immortal too....I'm a Rope that doesn't get frayed.

I still have my memories of when I was human....

Beginning of Flashback

"Really?!" I asked her, not quite sure if this was real or if she was lying.

"Yes, really." Ellie smiled.

"Oh, thank you thank you thank you Ellie!" I cried, throwing my arms around her. "Oh, I guess it's Captain Elenor Rose now, isn't it?"

"Yes it is," Captain Elenor Rose said, "and you better not forget that either."

"Oh, I won't!" I said enthusiastically. "I'm just so glad that I can be a member of your Crew!"

"Well, first of all, you need to calm down....."

End of Flashback

I smiled - or what passed for a Rope's smile - at the memory. I was so happy....the thought of me, being a part of The Crew, was just so......unreal. And now I'm here, a Rope instead of my old Bartender job. My smile fell into a frown.

"Ahhh!" I heard Ellie's scream from underneath the deck. I sighed, dis-tangling myself from the Mast, where I had taken to staying in my down time. The Mast and I sometimes had interesting conversations, but most of the time it was silent on both ends.

"Thank you Mamber," Ellie said when I caught her. I also had super-speed. I wasn't the ordinary piece of rope - I was a Rope, capital R. I feel as if I'm repeating myself on somethings, but oh well. The life of a Rope isn't very fun-filled, so I often say somethings more than once.....

Well, that's pretty much it. That's my life thus far. The most exciting thing that ever happens is another ship to raid, which doesn't really come that often. But when it does, there's always a lot happening. Sometimes the Captains are weak, way weaker than Captain Elenor Rose, so we take them down pretty easily. But other times, it's really hard to take over their ships. Oh well, I feel as if there is nothing more to tell....for now.
