The Girl of The Round Table
Like I said I'd be experimenting with different genres. This one is a Historical Fiction. It should be easy for starting off since I've done many reports on Medieval times so here it goes. Catrain Mcglire decides to be the man of the family when her brother Frederick is selected for the war, but will they be able to pull it off when Catrain falls for one of her fellow knights, Sir Ronald of Ewesburg?
Chapter 1
Frederick's News
Catrain and her mother were working on the garden when Frederick came through the back of their small house. He had just come back from the town's Meeting of Mens. He had a serious yet sad look on his face. Bad news was coming Catrain's way and she knew it. He asked his mother to come inside the house. Catrain continued picking beets, and tending to whithering crops. It was much too hot for gardening but, they needed to do what they must for their Lord and theirselves. Her mother walked out crying and holding her very used kercheif, Frederick trying to console her. It seemed as if she would fall at any moment so Frederick stayed close. It was then she was certain something was wrong. "Catrain," their mother said,"Frederick would like to have a word with you in the, the.". That was all she could manage before crying again. Frederick helped his mother to a small wooden stool in the shade and next to a water fixture. Catrain followed her brother into the house. "Take a seat Catrain. I mustn't hesitate to tell you this. For it is easier to tell you now than when I must leave. I am going to war to defend our home. I want you to take care of mother for me while I am away." Frederick told Catrain. "Frederick you are some to young to have to go! He can't get older more trained men to fight in this war?" Catrain asked tears forming in her eyes."I'm sorry Catrain. I didn't mean for this to upset you, honestly. But I must go. By law." he said pulling her into a hug. "You're some too young though Frederick!" Catrain exclaimed. "I'm some of sixteen Catrain. I have to go." He explained. He hated when Catrain felt sorrow. If he only knew how to get out of going to war. " Please Frederick, I need you here with me and mother. Without you there is no reason to try and enjoy these horrid fields. Please think out staying." Catrain said walking towards her and Frederick's space in the tiny home. Frederick did think. He came up with a final solution.
