Chapter 1
A New Message
As soon as the bus skidded to a stop, I jumped off and ran towards my apartment. Thinking only about one thing. Getting to my computer.
I’m Kendra. Kendra Jade. I live, and have lived, almost all my life in New York City. You can say I was a city girl, but it wasn’t all that fun. Since there was no way, you were allowed to go out by yourself because of the “dangers” in the city; I had to drag along my parents everywhere I went. And I mean everywhere. So I mostly stayed at home. But there was one excellent thing about it. I had met an online friend. Her name was Bridget Olivere. I had met her on a site called Quibblo. She was a truly brilliant author; her stories were amazing and full of life. So I had friended her, and we talked. Turns out we had a lot in common, like being born on the same day. We both loved to read and to write, and were crazy about ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Starkid.’ I can go on and on about our similarities, but there was a huge difference. We lived in different states. Bridget lived in Willmington, Deleware, and while, I, on the other hand lived in Brooklyn, New York.

I ran to my door and searched for my keys.
Ugh! I thought. I hate keys.
I stuck them in the lock, and turned it open. I scrambled inside and ran to my computer. I turned it on and checked my messages. 1 from Bridget! "I wish we could meet in real life,” she typed. I grinned and typed "Me too." About two seconds after I hit send, I saw a reply. I clicked it open. It had 4 words. "I have a plan."
