Read..... If you Dare....
P.S. I'm not going to do allegiances, only because it takes forever and I just want to get to the story. Also, this is at the lake.
Chapter 1
The Beginning
A snow-white queen screeched in terror.
"Snowflight! Go! I'll fend it off!" Hissed a tabby tom.
"No, Foxspirit! I can't leave you here alone!" Snowflight yowled, pouncing on the foxes that were threatening the two cats.
"Go get WindClan then!" Foxspirit screeched as he bit hard into one of the foxes' necks.
Snowflight gasped. "But we were banished!"
"I don't care! They never leave cats to die!"
"Which is why I'm not leaving you!"
Foxspirit growled. "Fine, die then." He whispered, lunging for another fox's neck. That sent the fox flying through the trees, blood trickling from his neck wound.
Snowflight gasped as the biggest fox of all cornered her. Slobber dripped from its mouth as it lunged for the queen's neck, missing it by an ant-length.
Foxspirit was fending off two of the smaller foxes, and noticed his mate in danger. His body was filled with rage, and that gave him power. The tabby tom pounced on one fox, sending it screeching through the woods. He did the same with the other.
The former warrior raced toward the largest fox, yowling with fury. He pounced, surprised by how strong the fox was.
The fox screeched in surprise, and ran around, trying to shake off its attacker.
Snowflight lay there, motionless.
Foxspirit yowled. "NO! SNOWFLIGHT!" He scratched the fox up badly, making it race through the trees, yelping.
Its allies followed.
Foxspirit yowled in triump, but in a flash, remembered Snowflight. He rushed over to her side.
The queen wasn't dead, Foxspirit realized. "You're having our kits." He whispered, surprised.
Snowflight was gasping for air, blood pooling around her as she gave birth to three kits; two toms and a she-cat.
The white she-cat's amber eyes flashed, and she stared at Foxspirit. "Treat our kits with love and care..." She gasped. "I'll miss you."
Foxspirit froze. "No! You can't die, Snowflight! You just can't!"
But the queen was already laying there, at her mate's feet, eyes glazed over with death.
The kits' father went limp with grief. He stared at his dead mate, then dragged his gaze over to his three squirming kits.
Foxspirit curled up around them, trying to give them warmth. "Queens shouldn't have their kits in the middle of leaf-bare, and die having them." He whispered, licking the kits.
A tom-kit, a little red tabby, squeaked in hunger.
The other tom, a black-and-white one, sneezed. His tail brushed his nose and he sneezed again.
The smallest one, the she-cat, was a little tortioseshell with a long tail. She wasn't moving at all.
Foxspirit felt dread fill his body. He licked the kit frantically, hoping that she wouldn't die as well.
The little runt twitched her tail and mewled.
The tabby tom sighed with relief, looking up at the sky. He glanced at a shining star.
"Snowflight." He whispered, realizing that the shining star was his mate, watching over them.
Foxspirit looked back at his kits. "I must name them." He told himself, thinking hard.
He glanced at the red tabby tom-kit. He was playing with his tail. "Bramblekit." He decided.
Foxspirit glanced at the other tom, the black-and-white one. "Darkkit."
The tabby looked at the only she-kit. "Cinderkit. Snowflight would have liked that."
"Cinderkit, Darkkit, and Bramblekit. Beautiful names." Came his dead mate's voice next to him.
Foxspirit looked up, startled. "Snowflight..." He breathed, seeing the white queen next to him.
"You have to take them back to WindClan." Snowflight meowed.
"What? But... I'm still banished."
"Like you said, WindClan never leaves a cat in need."
"I know, but... What about ShadowClan? They need more members." He suggested, remembering his birth Clan.
Snowflight shook her head. "That is up to you. But what I am telling you is you need to at least take them to a Clan. There they will grow up and have a normal life."
"How can they have a normal life if their mother died giving birth to them?" Foxspirit snapped, licking Cinderkit's head.
Snowflight sighed. "I know. They won't know of their mother and father. You'll leave them in whatever Clan's territory, somewhere someone's bound to find them."
"How can I leave my three kits?" Foxspirit asked, bewildered. He winced as a deep wound in his neck stung. Blood poured out of it.
"Do it! NOW!" His mate snapped, fading away.
"I'm going to die. That's why." He figured out, picking up his kits drowsily and bringing them to ShadowClan's territory.
He set them down next to the camp entrance, giving them one last look before staggering off toward Snowflight's body again, which was near a Twoleg nest. He lay down next to her, ready for death to overwhelm him. He closed his eyes, his neck wound spilling more blood.
Suddenly, Snowflight appeared. "You made a good choice." She murmered, wrapping her tail around him to lead him to StarClan.
Foxspirit nodded. "I know." He answered, feeling his sores and wounds melting away, replaced by shining, healthy tabby fur.
The queen raced up the sky, toward her star.
The tabby tom instinctively raced after her, feeling bitter-sweet. He got to see his mate again, and be with her forever, but had to leave his kits in the progress.
I hope you like it.
