Blazers, Slushies, Action! (A Glee Behind the Scenes Story)

"Hello?" I answered my phone between bites of my bagel, sitting across from Diane at Panera.
"Hello! Is this...Geena Hughes?" an unknown male voice asked.
"Yes, this is she. May I ask who is calling?"
"This is Ryan Murphy of Glee."
I dropped the bagel. Diane mouthed 'WHAT?!'. I held my hand up to her, wishing for the first time, I wasn't here.
"Oh! Hi! How are you?"
"I'm doing good, what about you?"
"I'm great! Thanks."
"Well, Geena, I was hoping to gain a new cast member today, and I found the perfect girl. Their audition was amazing and they would be perfect for the role of Olivia Puckerman, Puck's cousin that has a fling with Artie. Now all I need is to ask her, so, Geena, would you like to be on Glee?" he asked. I knew he was smiling.
"Yes! Absolutely! Oh my Rowling, thank you so much!"
"No, thank you, Geena! See you in a few weeks."
"Goodbye, Mr. Murphy!"
I hung up, a huge grin on my face. I looked at my background of Darren Criss as Harry Potter, my good luck charm. I heard he was going to be on Glee, so I stuck his face as my background. Well, re-stuck it. He was one of my idols.
Diane opened her mouth to say something, but I cut her off with a high-pitched squeal, earning myself a few looks.
I could care less...
"WHAT?!" she asked. "Dear Wizarding God, girl, you're acting like Darren called you!"
"He practically did!"
"Whaddya mean?"
"Diane..." I looked at my phone, then back at my friend's face. "I'm gonna...BE ON GLEE!"


Ah, that September day seemed so very long ago.
Now it was the first Tuesday of November.
AKA, the airing of my first episode.
We were all crowded in Ryan's apartment living room to watch it. By everyone, I mean everyone! The whole cast, Nikki Anders, Zach Woodlee, Brad Falchuck, Erik White...
"Nervous?" Lea Michele asked me. I nodded feverently.
"Don't be!" Darren Criss told me. He was going to be a guest star in a week. "You were phenomenal! Perfect!"
I blushed, and Darren smiled timidly and looked away.
"Seriously! You were great!" Nikki, the vocalist, assured me. "You nailed Super Bass! It was awesome!"
"Thanks, Nikki," I told her. In the episode, I go after Artie, singing Super Bass to him although, he's dating Brittany.
"Seriously, Geena, you were great!" Dianna Agron said.
"Oh, shut up! You were amazing!" I laughed.
"Yeah, right!"
"HUSH!" Chris Colfer yelled just as I was going to speak up again. "It's on!"
"Here's what you missed on Glee..."


I actually looked...good. As Olivia, I was confident and sexy, unlike the real me. After the show aired, my phone blew up with congratulatory texts.
"I feel like Cinderella!" I exclaimed.
Everyone but Darren and Cory Montieth looked at me funny.
"Yeah!" Darren agreed. "Ryan's like our fairy godfather!"
"Except, it all doesn't go away at midnight!" Cory added, high-fiving us both.
"Exactly!" I blushed again at the adorableness of these two boys.
"You're all right!" Dianna and Lea shouted.
I looked around me, seeing Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, and Chris on the couch, Chord Overstreet, Lea, Dianna, Heather Morris, and Naya Riveria were in chairs, and Nikki, Ryan, Zach (the coreographer), and the rest of the adults in the kitchen. Darren and Cory were on either side of me on the ground.
I had an adorable, nice guy looking at me from either side of me.
Damn, I must be Cinderella...
