Snape's Daughter: Chapter 25

The next morning I woke up at the usual time and got dressed in my uniform and did the normal thing. I went downstairs and found everyone waiting for me. "Morning." I say yawning. Grumbles and 'hi's were my reply by my friends. We went to the dining hall for breakfast and saw people seated, eating, and talking about the ball. Professor Dumbledor tapped his glass with his spoon and everyone went quiet. It was so quiet, you could hear a quill fall. "Everyone, as you know. Classes are canceled for the next few weeks in preperation of the ball. Don't forget your studies." He sat back down and the food appeared. We ate in silence. It's unusual for the boys to be quiet, espically the twins, they're usually cracking a joke or telling us a story of what they did to Charlie or something. But they were quiet, like they were nevus or they knew something we didn't. I know why the girls are silent, we didn't want to talk because we didn't want to be tricked and give anything away about our plans for the ball. I guess the boys could sense my uncomfortableness because they asked "Cassie, are you ok?" "Peachy!" I replied, my voice going up 15 octaves and giving them a cheeky smile. I got up and left, walking to the weeping willow. I make my way there, and when I do I say in a quiet voice, "Shh. Calm down. It's only me." Also stroking the tree, the willow drops it's branches and holds still. I climb on and it and the branches go back up, I'm sitting on one of the branches staring out into the sun and the slightly visible moon. I'm so wrapped up in my thoughts I don't hear someone coming my way. "Are you crazy!?" The person asks, snapping me out of my trance. I look down and see it's the twins, I wave and hop down. "Hi guys." I say cheerfully. "What were you doing up there?" Fred asks, "You could have been killed." George finishes. "You guys, the tree won't kill me. It likes me." I said giggling. "So what's up?" "Why'd you leave the dining hall?" One asks, "Well, it was kind of weird, being surrounded by people who actually know what their plans are for the ball." I say self consciously. "Oh." They say together, I feel things getting uncomfortable so I do the same process and climb up the weeping willow again. The boys look at me in confusion and awe. I'm just sitting on the same branch, staring off into space again. I guess the boys left, but I didn't mind. I needed time to think about things. The sun moved in the sky and I store out, soon the sun sat and the moon rose. I jumped off the branch I was on and headed back to the castle.
As I walked through the halls, Draco came up to me. "Lets go to the ball." He said "Um maybe, I'm not sure." I say, walking away. The picture swings open and I enter the common room. As soon as I sit down on my couch, I'm attacked by 5th, 6th, and 7th year boys, all asking me to go to the ball with them. Thankfully Fred, George, Harry, Ron, Herminy, and Ginny jump into action keeping them away from me. While the boys fight all the other ones off, Herminy and Ginny lead me away. We go to our room and I sit on my bed, silent. "So who are you going to say yes to?" Ginny asks, breaking the silence between us. "Ginny, I honestly don't know. Draco asked me out when I was walking back here." "Wow.Your lucky. All the boys like you." Herminy says. "Please. You have Harry and you have Ron. I'd rather have, no, I'd rather be in a relationship with someone instead of having boys crowd me." I say "I see your point." Herminy says, "We'll leave you to yourself for a while." Ginny says. "Thanks guys." I say, they leave the room and I'm by myself again. Soon the door opens and Fred comes in. "Thanks for keeping them away from me." I say to him. "Your welcome. But you know I'll do anything for you, and I was wondering, if you'd go to the Yule ball with me?" "Fred, I don't know." "Alright." He says getting up. "You've been through a lot today." He says shutting the door behind him. I think to myself again and the door opens. This time, George comes in. "Thanks for helping me." I say "What? Oh, yeah, with all the guys. Yeah um your welcome. Uh." "George, are you ok?" I ask, concerned. "Willyougototheyuleballwithme?" "What? Please, slow down." "I said, will you go to the Yule ball with me?" "George, I've been through a lot today, and I'm not sure." I say quietly. "Right um I'll see you later then." "Sorry." I say as he shuts the door. After he leaves, I get up and change, I lay down and I instantly sleep. Herminy and Ginny come back into the room to find me sound asleep.
~~~GINNY'S POV~~~
"Wow. She must be beat." I say, looking at Cassie. "Well of course, you would be also if the 5th, 6th, and 7th year boys asked you to the ball all at once." She says matter of factly. "Whatever. I'm just saying, she's lucky. But I do understand why I wouldn't like it." I say getting ready for bed also. I turn back around to see Herminy laying down, sleeping. 'Wow, she must be tired also.' I think to myself. I look at the click and see it's 9:00, I go lay down and turn off the lights. "Goodnight Herminy. Good night Cassie." I say sleepily.
~~~THE NEXT DAY~~~
~~~NORMAL POV~~~
We wake up to Sweet Sacrifice and get dressed in our uniforms. I do the usual thing with my makeup and hair, but I pull my hood up and keep my head down. We walk downstairs to find everyone, well every boy still there. The girls and I make our way through the crowd without being noticed, when we stepped out, the twins, Harry, and Ron were at our heels. I take down my hood and fix any fly a ways. The twins are joking with each other while the couples flirt, hand in hand. I find it cute, but also saddening. 'I wish I have someone special.' I thought to myself. We make it to the dining hall and most of the boys glomp me, asking me to the ball. My friends try to keep them away, but they keep coming back, "DADDY HELP!!" I shouted, my voice being hard to hear because of all the boys trying to out shout each other. Daddy's voice is heard, 'Thank god.' "EVERYONE BACK! OR 200 POINTS TAKEN FROM EACH HOUSE!" Everyone steps away from me, "Thank you daddy." I say, looking up at him, while he gives every boy a death glare. "Of course." He says to me in his monotone voice. My friends follow me towards the table, and soon everyone goes back their normal house positions. Talking, joking, and flirting irrupt when things are normal again. Dumbledor clinks his glass again, "Everyone, when you all finish eating, the prefects will take you to your common rooms. At a certain time, you are all to follow them out back here." He says, and the food appears. Weall eat and soon it's time for Percy, Griffindor's perfect, to take us to the common room.
~~~IN THE COMMON ROOM~~~
"What do you think we're going to do back in the dining hall?" Ginny asks me "Probably learn how to dance." I say laying myself out on the floor near the fire. Once again, I feel like someone is watching me. I look around and can't see anyone looking at me. "Cassie bear, is something wrong?" Herminy asks "I don't know. It just feels like some has been staring at me." I say looking around again.
~~~BACK IN THE DINING HALL~~~
All the tables are gone and the seats are across the room. The professors are sitting in their normal seats except Dumbledor, Magunall (Sorry I can't spell her name.), and daddy. "Attention everyone. Gentlemen sit on the left, ladies sit on the right. Now we are going to learn how to dance. Professor Magunall and Professor Snape will show you all how." Dumbledor says. Magunall and daddy step off the stage thing and stand in the middle of the room. "Ladies, watch Professor Magunall. Gentlemen, watch me." Daddy says. (Ok, I'm making this part up.) The song World Behind My Wall plays, while Magunall and daddy waltz all over the room. When the song ends Magunall walks to Ron and offers her hand to dance with him. Daddy comes up to me and gives me his hand. I stand with him, we walk to where Ron and Magunall are standing, the music starts, and we dance. I see Ron having a hard time, but daddy and I are dancing perfectly. The song ends, daddy and I bow to each other and we walk back to our separate sides of the room. The girls congratulate me on doing a good job and daddy gives an announcement, "Gentlemen, ladies, it's your turn to dance." Daddy says, giving the boys a signal to go. Someone named Michel Jefferson comes up to me and asks to dance. I accept and he leads me to the floor, I understand the moves perfectly and we dance until the song ends. We keep practicing until its time for a break. Everyone goes back to the common room while I go to the library.
~~~IN THE LIBRARY~~~
I'm studying about the magical creatures when someone comes and sits with me. I look up and see that it's Michel. "Hello." I say quietly "Hey Cassie do you want to go to the Yule ball with me?" "I don't know. Maybe." "Great!" He says getting up and leaving. I'm finally alone to study about the magical creatures I had no clue that existed. 'Wow. Luna is right. Grillimisks really do exist.' When I have enough of studying, I put the book away and go to the common room. When I get in there, I see my friends and Percy there. "Hey guys." I say "Where were you?" Ron asks, "In the library, studying about Grillimisks." I reply with a shrug, heading upstairs. "Didn't you eat?" Ginny asks me, I turn to her and nod. I continue to go upstairs and enter my room. I get ready for bed and lay down, thinking about Michel.
