Chapter 1

Why I Think This

1. Sharks can smell one drop of blood in a million drops of water, and i can smell a small amount of blood at a max distance of 10 yards (30 feet).

2. Sharks’ wounds heal quickly, and if i get a cut the length and width of my pinky it will be gone in a week at most.

3. A shark can go without eating for a long time because it is able to store nutrients, and I've gone weeks with only water because I wasn't hungry.

4. Sharks can be fussy eaters. Sometimes they will take a bite out of their prey or just sink their teeth in to get a taste before they start really feeding. If they don’t like the taste, they spit it out and move on. I do the same thing.

5. Sharks do not chew their food, they swallow it whole. If its too big, they tear it into chunks. I tend not to chew my food.

6. A shark can hear a fish in the water from more than a mile away. I can hear people say my name even if they whisper it and are ten feet away.

7. Sharks can sense weak electrical signals produced by the muscle movements of animals. I can tell if someone has moved even the slightest amout when im sitting on the same couch.

8. Sharks respond to a sound known as a "yummy hum." It's not an actual hum, though. It's an infrasonic sound that injured fish make, drawing sharks to an easy meal. I can sense if there is someine or something that is physically hurt nearby.

9. Sharks are especially susceptible to the moon's control of ocean tides. The phase of the moon can affect sharks' eating habits and draw them closer to shore. If there is a new moon, I usually don't eat much.

10. Sharks have quite a few more senses than humans do. When solid objects glide through the water, they create waves of pressure that a shark can feel with the sensitivity of a physical touch. By sensing these pressure waves, a shark can detect both the movement and direction of the object. I can do the same if something is flying through the air.

11. Sharks can generate up to 40,000 pounds per square inch of pressure in a single bite. I also have really strong jaws--I have cracked an abandoned shell before with me teeth on a dare and not harmed my teeth.

And this is why I think I'm part shark.
