Can anyone here have lucid dreams? I'm thinking of teaching myself to have them and would be interested to know what it's actually like to have one :D

For those who don't know already, a lucid dream is when you become aware that you are dreaming and can control your actions while sleeping.

For those who have had them, has it ever caused sleep paralysis or an OOBE? I've heard that this can happen, although it is rare.

oh yeah, i know those i have them all the time. its kinda awesome because if you realize your dreaming then you realize you can't get hurt so then you do the most crazy stunts ever. or if you are used to being in control of your dream like me, then you can create objects or senarios its really fricking awesome!! takes a bit of practice but i have been able to do it since i was little!

oh and i don't know about you but i have very violent dreams so knowing you cant die is a plus!:)

Awesome! Can you remember how long you practiced for before you had your first dream? I haven't been practicing for long and I know it can take a lot of time.
Haha, I have violent dreams too :D And...apparently people have violent dreams about me. I know of at least two people who've had dreams where I go on a killing rampage...

What do I think? I think I have, I mean if it means that your dreaming but you are kinda awake. Like your dreaming and inside that you know your dreaming. Ive had dreams where Ive known I was dreaming but I can't wake up but after awhile I go back into my subconsious mind and dream away. I think if this is what your talking about then yes you can and yes Ive had them.

Oh, I've had lucid dreams before. I, too, trained myself to have them. It's cool. For me, it happens a little into the dream, and it gives you a sense of awareness, like you found out the meaning of life. Which has happened, by the way. It's a circle.
Anyways, when you start to create stuff, if you also make it happen, the people in your dream might notice. I had a few dreams when I was turning myself into animals in dream, and someone, instead of accepting I was a cat acting like a human,

Asked ifi thought I was in a dream or something. :D Being ware of your dream and changing things helps me get by a boring dream.
To train yourself, try half-waking up and resetting if something goes wrong. If you have a nightmare, think of something goofy and try again. This helps you get in control of the dream surroundings.

I was just looking this stuff up last night! Honestly I kinda wanna have an experience with sleep paralysis. Even though it sounds creepy....but still. I think it'd be cool(: haha

I've never had dreams like that, but I don't have normal dreams. Mine are of the prophetic version--I've had dreams about when my brother would be born before we even knew we were going to have a little brother, and about my sister's wedding before it was even announced. I don't mind not having them--I prefer mine. :D
