You know the stories about the enchantingly beautiful guys whom catch the attention of the "New girl" in school? Those guys who seem to have a dark past? The one's you think are vampires? Those stories aren't real, there's no such thing as vampires, unless you've got your nose in a book, like I've had. I'm a Freshman at a high school with over 600 students, I take lone comfort in my two best friends and my books, my books about those enchantingly beautiful guys. Then I met him. Cat Returns AU.
Chapter 1
A new school year
I grumbled standing at my bus stop at 6:30 AM. "I used to get UP right now!" I whined as I rubbed my arms, warding off the chill from the passing cars. I whipped out my neat-o touch screen phone and stared at it. "I really wish I could text..." I put my phone back, then with drew a book from my awesome-tastic orange and gray messenger bag.
I carefully opened the book to a page. "Jenifer's so lucky." I said as I picked up where I left off, "She gets the man I've always dreamed of." The world I was curently loseing myself in was a wonderful book called "Jade Night"
Jade Night was about a realist girl named Jenifer, who took horror stories with a grain of salt. Then she meets Jade, a mysterious girl who's not at all what she seems. Jade, of course, has a handsome older brother name Jonathan. Jonathan expresses interest in Jenifer after she punches out one of the bad dude's lackeys out. I don't know the bad guy's name yet, I'm not that far in the story.
Obviously they get together though, and that light some fire in my veins. "I wish I had a guy like Jonathan." I wished aloud as my bus pulled up. Little did I know, that MY guy, was nothing like Jonathan.
I boarded my bus, only to face the usual haters. "OMG, Look at her." I heard one of them say as I passed. "She looks so stupid in that shirt."
"Forget the shirt," The other said, "Those pants make her look fat!"
The first one scoffed, "She's fat either way."
"Says the girl who weighs 20 pounds more then I do." I muttered. I quickly advanced to the back of the bus, taking my usual seat three for the back. I delved back into Jade Night.
I could easily lose track of my time when reading book, but something kept me from being fully submerged in the story, Something felt off about today. I read a little more, when voices from the front of the bus pulled me from my reading.
"No way."
"A new kid?"
"He's so... steamy."
I glanced out the bus window, we were indeed stopped, but I'd missed the new kid by a little. I could hear his footsteps one the bus floor, they sounded weird, he didn't sound like he was wearing tennis shoes, they more like, formal shoes. I shook that off and continued reading. Only to once again be pulled from it.
"Excuse me miss," The boy said, "is this seat taken?"
I looked up, only to be met by the most enchanting green eyes I'd ever seen, inspecting the boy further showed me that he wore a suit. A suit! Who wears a suit on the first day of HIGH SCHOOL?! I shook my head, "No, it's not," The boy began to sit down until I stopped him, "But as I don't want to ruin your reputation on the first day-" I moved my messenger bag to cover the seat "-you can't sit here."
A sly smile crossed his lips. "Miss if I cared about what any one else thought, I would have worn a rip tee-shirt with some vulgar saying on the front." He said as he moved my bag so he could sit. After the tawny boy got settled in the seat he made introductions. "My name is Humbert, but I prefer to go by B." he held out what I now saw was a gloved hand.
I shook his hand. "Haru Yoshioka."
"Well Miss Haru, would you mind telling me about this high school. I had to enroll at the last minute."
"Well, Thank you for teeling me that, but as I am only a Freshman, I can't tell you that much." I shifted in my seat, "What year are you first of all?"
"Junior." The tawny youth stated.
"Well see, there you go, I can't vouch for junior classes or teachers." I rolled my eyes. "You at least have your class list right?"
B looked lost for a second, then realizing what I meant pulled out a sheet of paper. "Here it is."
"Ok," I said looking at his classes, "This high school run on a block schedule program. So, Today you'll have: AP Geometry, Intermidiate Choir, A lunch, Intro to theater, and creative writing." I stared at his schedule for a moment longer.
"Is something wrong?" He asked worriedly.
"No, it's just that we have the same 2nd period, lunch, and third period."
"That's a good thing." He said, as a new smiled worked it's way across his face. A smile of joy, I couldn't help but smile back.
"Yes. It is."
B and I talked the whole way to school, we didn't talk about anything specific, we just talked. When we got off the bus B was blind-sided by two people.
"Baro-" There was a tall black haired youth, whose hair looked like feathers, and his features were defined, like they'd been chiseled from a stone. the other was a reasonably large man, with brown hair like mine, he looked more like a giant fat cat then a human. The black haired youth was the first to respond to seeing me. "Uh... Who's this?" He asked.
"This, is Haru Yoshioka. She and I ride the bus together. Haru, this is Toto," He motioned to the tall boy, "And this is Muta." B waved at the large boy.
"Hello Toto." I said shaking his lean hand, then I turned to Muta, "Hello Moota."
Muta didn't shake my hand, and took offence in my slip-up. "Moo? Do I look like a cow?"
"No! But at least I didn't call you Buta which is what I was thinking!" I covered my mouth realizing I had just admitted to calling him pig in Japanese.
Muta stamped his foot on the ground, as Toto stuggled not to laugh, "I must say, you really found a good one, Baron."
I turned away from the raging Muta, and cocked my head, "Baron? I thought you went by B?"
"Both are fine." The tawny youth said, running a gloved hand through his golden hair, "I just didn't want to say Baron, seeing as it's a title of nobility, of which I am not."
"He never really like Humbert, and we all agreed it didn't really suit him, then of course, he was always reaching out to others, sticking his nose in their business. So back home we just started calling him Baron."
Muta finally stopped raging around and made a suddenly valid point, "Shouldn't we all be heading to class?"
I pulled out my phone and checked the time. "Shoot! Muta's right guys! We have 5 minutes to get to our first classes!"
We all exchanged quick good-byes and went off to class. I could tell that this year, as well as next year, would be the best ever.
