???? (To Be Determined)
ummm, so I'm starting a new story but I have no idea what to call it! There's a great plot line, and it has to do with the 12 Birthstones. I hope you like what I've written so far!!
Chapter 1
~Prologue~
It was night. The stars shimmered like far off lanterns in the black cloak of a sky; the moon was full as it shone down its light. Its weak beams fell on a corroded, timeless temple, which had long ago been abandoned...but tonight, it wasn’t.
The shallow light seeped through the cracks of the building, into its one big room. The floor was dappled by the moonlight, showing the once beautiful mosaic floor beneath layers of dust. The walls and high domed ceiling were also mosaic and at the top of the dome, a hole had eroded, letting a stream of light fall on a lone figure. The dim light still illuminated her pretty face, and her long silver hair shimmered as if it was on fire. She wore a simple white dress, which showed her slim figure, and white shoes, each standing a shoulder length apart.
Suddenly she flung her head and arms upward, her blue eyes blazing fiercely with a strange light, and then she dropped them just as suddenly. Slowly and carefully she knelt to floor, right onto the mosaic compass in the center of the room. Each of its skillfully created points lead to another person, all kneeling in their respective places. An eleven-pointed compass.
The silence was deafening until the girl in the center spoke.
“Only seven left..” It was little more than a whisper on the wind. The girl pointed to one of the people waiting at the spokes of the compass. From the shadows a girl dressed in green emerged. The shorter girl nervously shuffled up to the powerful one in white, her braided, dark brown hair swinging from side to side as she knelt in front of her.
The girl in white put her hands on the kneeling girl’s shoulders and shut her eyes, tipping her head back gracefully. There was a long pause and then her face smiled with pleasure as she opened her eyes and stared straight into the brunette’s.
“Emerald, I give you the gift of Love. Use it well and grow in it, for in it you will find true love.” A greenish glow surrounded Emerald for a few seconds and then stopped as the other girl let go. She nodded to Emerald encouragingly.
“Thank you, Diamond.” The pretty brunette bowed and shuffled back the way she came, but with a little more purpose this time. Diamond smiled to herself as the girl sat back down in her spot.
“Six more left,” she said, beckoning mysteriously towards another candidate. The boy got up, almost bouncing for joy as he sat at her feet. Diamond ignored his curious stare and put her hands on his shoulders. She started to lean back, searching for his gift like she did for Emerald, when suddenly a loud BANG! sounded.
The ceiling fell inwards and Diamond jumped aside, dragging the boy with her, barely dodging the pieces of rubble that came raining down on the spot they had been a split second before. Everyone in the circle froze in confusion, looking around warily for the source. Suddenly, a dark figure jumped through the ceiling and as quick as a flash, cornered Diamond, a knife to her neck.
“Anyone move and she’s gone,” came a gruff voice, one that sounded forced and disguised. The knife glinted warningly in the dark. The eleven in the circle froze with either confusion or fear, but one of them stepped forward defiantly.
“Let her go! Who are you? What do you want?!” The brazen, tall boy asked the mysterious person.
The anonymous person laughed coldly. “I am a whisper, a ripple on water. I am as dark as night and as fast as the wind--I am the Dark Wind. You’ll never catch me, you’ll never find me. And you’ll never see your precious Diamond again!” There came a fast swish, the boy blinked, and they were gone. Diamond was gone.
