Ours (A Love Story)

Well, I'm incredibly bored, so I decided to write a story! The guy in the picture is Devon Bostick, that's how I picture the guy in the story. The chapter titles are all names of songs that sort of go with the story. I got the idea from some story on here, but I can't remember which. So, if it was your idea, mind if I borrow it?:) They're all good songs and I recommend them.Fair warning, I suck at grammar and spelling. I appreciate comments and all that jazz!

Chapter 1

The Outside by Taylor Swift

I took a bite of my grilled chicken sandwich and observed my surroundings. Students were all around laughing, talking and whispering. Including the the five at my table. Reilly and Jessica were in deep conversation. Lee, Adrian, and Natalie were laughing over some inside joke. The table behind us burst into loud laughter. I sighed.
Then, my heart leaped. James Vincent walked past. Every girl has had or still has a huge crush on him. I'm kind of in the second category.
James, he seems perfect. He's really smart, great at sports, and really good looking. He's got these light green eyes that go on for days, and gorgeous auburn hair thats sort of curly. His cheeks are always rosy. And he actually seems nice.
Problem is, he'd never look at me. Unlike him and all the girls he dates, I'm actually normal looking. I have long brown hair with blonde highlights and awful bangs. My eyes are dark green with gold flecks in them. And those are my best features, besides my lips, which are pretty full. The rest kind of sucks.
James passed in front of our table and I held my breath.
"He's hot," I overheard Jessica saying to Reilly. Oh great, more competition.
"He is," Reilly agreed.
My chances are dwindling.
Next to Reilly or Jessica, I'm lost in the background. Those two girls are beautiful. I should just give up.
A sinking feeling came in my stomach. Luckily, the bell rang so I headed off to English class.

"Arabella says that if you're gonna say that you need to say it to her face!" Gale said, running into 7th period where we were waiting for class to start. He was talking to Eloise. Eloise and Arabella were apparently in a fight. I have no idea what it was over.
"Oh, I will!" Eloise jumped out of her desk and took off to the door.
"Eloise! Sit down!" Mr. Collins said sternly.
"I was just going to get my math book, Mr Collins," Eloise said sweetly.
Mr. Collins rolled his eyes. "I don't care what you were doing, you can't just run out of class!"
"Technically, class hasn't started yet," Gale chimed in.
"Sit down, Gale," He said tiredly.
He smirked and sat down at his desk.

"Mr. Collins, Mr. Davis is outside." Adrian said while the teacher was working an easy algebra problem.
"What?" Mr. Collins jumped and turned around. Sure enough, Mr. Davis, our history teacher, was peering in the doorway.
"Oh, hello Davis," Mr. Collins stuttered as Mr. Davis walked in.
"Collins," He said.
"I'm just teaching class, here as you can see. So maybe you should head out," Mr. Collins hinted.
"What's that little dash by the 5?" Mr. Davis pointed toward the negative on the smart board.
"That's a negative number, Davis." Mr. Collins told him.
Mr. Davis sipped his coffee calmly. "You'd know all about negatives, wouldn't you, Collins?"
"Why, you little-" Mr. Collins chased Mr. Davis into the hall and started chewing him out.
Mr. Davis backed out of view and Mr. Collins started punching. Every punch you could hear a smack.
"Oooh," Mr. Johnson, yet another cool teacher, walked by the room with his hand over his mouth looking terrified. "Stay out of that kids!" He called to us and ran down the hall.
"And stay out!" Mr. Collins shoved the air and came back into the room, where everyone was laughing.
"Oh, so you get to run out of the room but I can't?" Eloise said jokingly.
"Oh, be quiet," Mr. Collins said.
"He's back!" Adrian said loudly.
Mr. Davis came back in with ketchup running down his face. "You'll pay for this one, Collins!" He stalked out.
"Well, now that that's over, lets get back to math!" Mr. Collins said happily.
Yep, those are our teachers. Mr. Collins, Davis, and Johnson are always doing that. Our school is very.... unique. Welcome to Eden Academy. The weirdest private school on the planet. Go Rebels.

"It's over!" Gale cried when the bell rang.
Eloise grabbed her stuff and practically ran out the door. "Bye, y'all!"
"We don't wanna miss this," Gale nudged Eric.
I put my homework in my binder and walked out, scared of what I was about to see.
"Bye, Devin," Mr. Collins said.
"Bye," I said. Most of the teachers at Eden seem to like me. I guess it's cause I actually listen and make good grades.
I turned into the hall and saw Arabella up against the wall, Eloise in her face.
They were getting into it, cussing each other out. I pushed past the crowd and shoved some books into my locker. Just barely, I heard Mr. Johnson breaking up the fight.
I pushed through the double doors and quickly walked to my truck. I just got it for my birthday. My entire family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even my little sister had pooled their money to buy if for me. It was a red GMC Sierra.
I cranked it up and turned to my favorite country station. "Then" by Brad Paisley came on the radio. I love country, its so beautiful and heartfelt. I would kill to be that girl that the song is about.

The next day at lunch was the same thing, except the topic was on Arabella and Eloise.
"Whose side are you on?" Natalie asked Reilly.
"Eloise's, duh."
Personally, I was on Arabella's side. I thought Eloise was a tad bit trashy. So was Arabella, but Arabella seemed a little nicer. Actually, I'm not on either side.
"What was that fight even about?" I spoke for the first time at lunch today.
"Well, thats....." Reilly said slowly.
"Classified," I finished for her.
"Sorry.." Reilly smiled apolgetically.
"Anyway," Jessica got Reilly's attention, "I'm on Eloise's side, because Arabella's a witch." Except, she didn't use the word witch. "Sorry, Devin." She told me.
"It's fine," I said wryly. She knew I hated cussing.
I glanced to the right and met Arabella's eyes. I'm pretty sure she heard us. Tears were in her eyes. I looked away quickly.

"That's so stupid," I muttered under my breath walking towards my car as Gale and Eric were discussing the fight.
"You're right, Devin," Eric surprised me by aknowledging me. "It is absolutely stupid."
I stared at him stupidly. Eric Kriss was talking to me?
"Do you even know what it was about?" Eric continued.
"No," I stammered.
"Then how do you know it's stupid?" Gale raised an eyebrow.
"I just have a feeling." I answered.
"She's right," Eric said to Gale. "It is dumb." He turned to me. "Aparently, the fight is over James. Arabella kissed James and that day Eloise started going out with James, and they started spreading crap about each other and then they yelled at each other. The end." Eric said.
"They're fighting over a boy?" I said in disbelief. "I was absolutely right."

All the way home, I was weeping for America's future. We're in 11th grade and we are still this immature! It's crazy! Grow up, people! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of!
"Hey, Bear! Hey Bryant!" I called as I climbed out of my truck when I got home. My two dogs bounded toward me happily and I bent down to pet them.
Sage, my ten year old sister wasn't home yet. She hated Eden Academy, so she went to a public school.
I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of orange juice. After about ten minutes of watching TV, I heard the bus pull up and Sage come in.
"Hey," I yelled.
"Hi, Devin," She yelled back.
Sage appeared in the doorway and sat on the couch by me. Her red hair was curled and she had on adorable jeans and blue shirt.
"How was your day?" She asked.
"Eh. Two girls got in a fight over a boy. The usual."
Her eyes widened. She loves hearing things that go on at Eden, but she won't go. "What happened?"
I told everything I knew.
"Sounds like James is kind of a jerk and the girls are stupid." Sage concluded.
Immediately, I grew defensive. "James isn't a jerk. He's confused, that's all."
Sage raised her eyebrow at me. "I think he's playing both of them. Let me guess, he was watching the fight?"
Come to think of it, I think he was. "N-no," I lied.
"I don't like him." Sage frowned. "Devin, don't you ever date him. He's not nice."She got off the couch and walked upstairs to her room.
I wasn't sure whether to laugh because she was absolutely right, or completely wrong. I'm gonna go with completely wrong. She's only ten.

What did you think? On a scale of decent to horrible, how bad was it?
Those teachers in the story, yeah that really happened. Today actually. I love my school, but it does scare me quite often. Yeah, so thanks if you actually finished the first chapter!
