The Sound of Silence

My name is Kai, it is a name that comes from the ancient land where all Legendary Pokemon come from. It means "Beautiful Song". My name is harsh, and empty, although I am a Chatot, and my usual self should sing a song more beautiful than any other, my voice was stolen from me. It was not my fault, I was under the impression that being what humans called "shiny" was a good thing. I had no idea that being "shiny" would make Celebi so mad. She came to me during my third year.

Then I woke up, I couldn't tell anyone what had happened, my voice was gone.

Back to the present.
I was about to start my fourteenth year, it was a calm night, but nothing really interesting, I was excited. Once again I had escaped Celebi's wrath by the skin of my beak. Why was she still so mad? Hadn't she already taken what was most important to me? What else did I have?
"Kai!! Come here!"
My good friend, Virgilio, he was a Zangoose, called me down from the Pecha Tree I was sitting in. He was Shiny as well.
"Look I found some more treats!!"
I flapped my left wing four times really fast.
"...I umm...took them....from a Poke-Center..."
I jumped and did a frantic clawing at the air.
"I know you don't want me to steal from humans, but I had to!! The Seven Star Hotel doesn't let me take scraps anymore..."
I face-palmed.
"I don't know that one. Just eat! I know you're hungry!! Here look, I got your fav!!" He held out a Yucha Berry.
I stared intently, I couldn't speak, but I could make some sounds, I'm sure I was moaning softly.
"Oh hey! That's a new one! Maybe you'll get your voice back after all!"
I sure hope so Virgilio... I hope so
"Well, eat your fill and then we'll give the rest to that cute little Pichu that keeps following us...(Raaarwwrrrrnn* maybe he'll evolve someday, if he does... can we keep him?" He fell asleep so quickly each night, and never saw the sunset. The bright pink on the horizon that matched my wings perfectly, and made me feel normal.

"Kai!! Virgilio!!! I found you!!"
"Elrond!! Look at you!! Sneaking up on us while we're asleep isn't very nice!"
"Sorry, Virgilio. I saw you guys sleeping here and I know why you're here!!"
"Oh you do? Why are we then, Elrond?"
"You want to help Kai, so you guys came to see the lovely Suicune!"
Suicune.... I've heard that name before...
"Suicune?..." Virgilio looked at me. "Yup, you caught us, buddy! But we've got this problem. We got lost the other day, and we can't get to Suicune, can you help us?"
"I can get you two nearly there, I can't go in, only Shinies are allowed."
"Oh okay, well if you do this, then... hmmm, let's see, our deal is that you help us escape humans by night and we give you one third of the food we get...so, any thing else you need?"
"I want to join you!"
"What??"
"The Gentle Celebi, is after me too. She said I shouldn't help any Pokemon with the Shine, so when she found out I was already, she made me so I can never evolve. I want to get stronger! I want to fight her!!"
"Well, I don't know how we could help, we are running from her, there really isn't anything we can do about fighting her."
"Please!! I want to be part of your team!! Think about it!! You know, you guys figure it our while we walk, and give me your answer when we get there, if you say no then I want to have a bigger portion of food."
"Hmm, we'll think about it."
There's no way Virgilio is actually considering this kid to help us!! I was steamed, I didn't know what to expect, it's not like we could talk it over...

"Okay, this is where we stop for the night, Elrond, you stay by me alright? Kai, you just go do whatever it is you do..."
"Goodnight, Kai..."
He is so cute... I flew up into the tree near our camp, I watched the sunset once more, oh how lovely. Why was it that the same color, which resided on the silky-soft feathers on my wings, could not be so captivating on a Pokemon like myself? As I thought our new situation over, Elrond, the sunset, and the Lovely Suicune, I fell asleep to the sound of many Chatot singing in the woods, but I could not join in their heart-songs.

"So, I've finally caught up with the lot of you. Now, I will end this ridiculous whine! Take this!!"
"NOOO!!" There was a blinding flash, and when it had faded, Elrond lay unconscious on the ground, a spread of leaves and rocks on the ground around him. He was cut up, and looked like he was hurt badly. My blood rushed angrily and I could tell that Virgilio was about to attack Celebi as well, but suddenly a new voice, soft and kind, yet, powerful and commanding.
"You are not welcome here, you are not who you claim to be... Zoroark."

I snapped awake, I was laying awkwardly at the base of the tree I had fallen asleep in, I guess I had fallen out while I was dreaming. What a dream... hmm, it was bad too... Elrond got hurt... He can't join us.

Suicune's POV
"So... there is a rumor, that a Chatot, in her youth. Has been deprived of that which all Chatot's prize above all else."
"Yes... I have heard the same rumor. But with a bit more information." Raikou and Entei, my brothers knew what I had come to them about.
"Sister, why is it you feel we can help you?"
"Entei, you and Raikou can stop this villian! With my help, we can trap him! He has long caused too much trouble in our world, the humans are bad enough with out motive to capture us from our homes!"
"Entei, our sister, Suicune is right, Zoroark, is a bother, and must be stopped immediately."
"Yes, I will help then."
"I will wait for the group to arrive, then when he comes, we will foil his wicked plan, once and for all."

"Kai, get up, you can't just sleep on my shoulder any more, besides, we're here."
This place is familiar... but... how?
"I have been waiting for you to come."
"Celebi??"
"No, I am not the one you have been hiding from, but my name is Celebi." The small Pokemon floated down from the tree tops, flower petals fell with her, I suddenly realized, that it was early spring. "You were deceived so long ago, my dear child."
"Stop! Do not believe this impostor!!" This voice, was female but gruff harsh and spiteful. "She is not who she claims to be!!" Another Celebi, this one Shiny, came flying through the branches rapidly and with great force.
"You... How is it you have come to my home? Why have you come?"
"Silence!" With one fell strike the Shiny Celebi attacked the other, and she fell heavily to the ground. "Aha...ahaha!. AHAHAAHAHA!!!" The voice changed, I knew it. It was a coarse male voice, as rough as gravel on a new path. That voice.... my dream!! "So, I have finally managed to find you lot!! With this last move, I will stop this endless whine!! Take this!!"
"NOOO!!!" I knew it was coming, but even so, I had no time to react. The light cleared, and just as in my dream there the little Pichu lie, unconscious and bleeding.
"ARGH! Such insolence! I warned this one! So be it! If he wishes to die for a lost cause, I fell no regret!!" Celebi raised it's arms and was about to unleash another attack, when it froze mid air!
"You are not welcome here! You have defiled dear Celebi's home, and attacked a young Pokemon without reason. You will be punished now that we have you... ... ... Zoroark." The same soft voice, of the lovely Suicune. I'd had a premonition!!... cool...-ish...?
"NO!!" The Pokemon glowed with rage... no, it really was glowing!! It's size grew and it became less of a graceful figure. When the softer glow faded, a new, Pokemon was where the Shiny Celebi once had been. It's hair was long and tied at the end, it was deep royal violet, with black tufts at parts. I had seen this Pokemon once before, in a story book my mother read to me when I was young. He was the villian and the great Raikou, powerful Entei and lovely Suicune were the heroes. He was Shiny, I knew because the picture from the book showed his hair red.
"I had to stop them...they would... destroy us!!"
"No, Zoroark they would not. Must I remind you that you as well carry the Shine?"
"No you mustn't remind me of my curse."
"'Tis no curse, 'tis a blessing to carry such a gift!" the great Raikou!!
"Yes, listen to them they are right, Zoroark!" and the powerful Entei as well!!
"But... then why is it that humans attack me so?"
"They believe that to be master of a Pokemon with the Shine, makes them master of all Pokemon."
"But, I ... Suicune...Entei... Raikou?... I'm sorry, I will... I will fix my wrong doings... I will try..."
"You must start, here."
Zoroark was released and he fell to the ground. He pulled himself off the dirt and rocks, he turned to us, he first bent to Elrond. He put his paw over the Pichu's shoulder. He sang a song of healing. Elrond fluttered his eyes rapidly.
"Are... are you alright, young one?"
"... ... Yes, I'm fine..."
"I return to you the power to evolve, should you so choose."
"...? You took it? That was Celebi, you're silly..."
"Please accept mu apologies, Elrond."
"...I accept!!"
"Thank you, little one. May your travels be prosperous." He turned to Virgilio.
"I return to you, your family, you son and daughter and your mate as well. Please, I beg your forgiveness!!" Zoroark dropped to his knees, and bowed to Virgilio.
"I accept," He answered pulling up the watery-eyed Pokemon. And then three Zangoose, one Shiny, appeared out of thin air.
"Alexandra!! Elissa!! Georgeios!!"
"...Vir..Virgilio!!!!"
"Daddy!!!"
"Father!!!" There was a moving second, the likes of which, I had never felt before. Then, Zoroark turned to face me.
"Please, dear Kai. I know I acted in cruel spite, please accept my apology. I return to you, the voice I stole from you, eleven years ago."
...I felt a strangeness in my chest... "... ... I...accept... ... I accept. I accept!!!"
"Kai!! You can talk again!!"

It has now been many years since that encounter with Zoroark and the three legends of the great forest. I often visit my dear friend, a Pikachu named Elrond. Who comes to me with gifts from his latest adventure, and Virgilio and his family which has since then increased in number greatly, he has grand and great-grandchildren to claim as his. I have not yet, met the bird my heart desires to keep for my own, I feel however that I might not find him. After all, how could I settle down, when all I want to do... ... ... is sing?
