I have a bad temper too, but I find I can channel my anger into my writing. I can deal with anger, although I feel it way too often.

because I had real depression, and it lasted through a majority of my junior year of high school. Anxiety attacks and insomnia are not a fun combination.
(but it's not like I was 'sad' all day every day, I could still smile and have fun.)
