Chapter 1

9/11 Tribute

I know everyone's doing one of these, but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't do my own. First of all, RIP to the innocent victims of this awful tragedy. Let them never be forgotten. I cry almost every time I think about everyone who was killed, especially those aboard the flight that crashed into a field instead of the White House, due to the bravery of the passengers on board, all if whom were killed in the crash.
I would also like to thank any and all first responders, such as firefighters, policemen and women and all the medical personnel. Without them, far more people would have died than already did. They are the true heroes, and should never be thought of anything less.
And finally, I want to thank other countries who helped America during this tragic time, such as Canada, who helped stranded Americans on flights back home, or Japan, who folded a thousand paper cranes for us, a symbol of hope in their country. It gives me hope for the rest of the world when I see those acts of kindness, and really helps me believe the world isn't all bad.
I would also like to make a bit if a public service announcement. After 9/11, horrible prejudice has been brought upon American Muslims. They have been accused of helping the terrorists, being terrorist, and hating America. They have been called degrading and hurtful names, have been spat at, and have endured endless hate crimes and discrimination, despite the fact most, if not all, American Muslims knew nothing about 9/11 until it occurred, like the rest of us, and are just as upset as we are. So please, treat Muslims just as you would any other people. A large reason why Osama Bin Ladan (may he burn in Hell) did such a horrible and unspeakable crime was to declare a war between Christianity and Islam. If we let what he and he alone planned (with the help of his twisted friends) tear Christians and Muslims apart with hate, then he wins. He got exactly what he wanted, and he is laughing in his grave, knowing he succeeded.
Please, don't let him succeed. The only way to end hate is with love.
I know I'm just a teenage girl, but this is my view of what happened ten years ago today. It's unfortunate it happened, but since then, the FBI and other American agencies have detected and stopped nearly every terrorist attack afterwards, and they haven't gotten us since. And while those who died is a big part of the history of 9/11, so is everyone who didn't die. Many people were rescued from the Twin Towers, the White House was saved, and the Pentagon was fairly unpopulated at the time it was hit. So in a way, we won too.
I guess all I'm trying to say is that we should never forget the true heroes, villians and victims of 9/11. And that America will survive. We always do.

Thanks for reading, and take care

All my loving,
Addie
