Last One Standing
In the small town of Constantine, Maine, the unthinkable happens. A viral outbreak of T.Gondii, (Toxoplasmosis) explodes and rapidly spreads west. America is thrown into a state of mass panic as they discover The Infected are showing zombie-like symptoms.
Natasha Jamesfield, a secluded fifteen year old and her friend Gwen Parker are the only ones left in the small town of Harmington, Michigan. Aside, of course, from the newly animated deceased. Can they get to the country, the last safe place?
Before The Restoration, I had never known what true fear was. Fear wasn’t the anxiety you felt on the first day of school, and it wasn’t the thrill you got from watching a horror movie.
Until now, those were the only types of fear I had experienced.
But I had never been so close to dying.
I knew this was the end for me, I had survived The Restoration for so long, and it was difficult to believe that just four months prior to my end I had been sitting, safe and sound, in my home.
Now, my leg twisted in an unnatural fashion beneath me and Ash and Gwen, who had been my companions in this endeavor, lay unconscious and dying at either side of me. The Infected poured down the hills that surrounded this small dandelion-covered valley at a leisurely pace.
Nothing to do now but remember…
